They have two lots of cherry tomatoes on special but usually only one is in stock which usualy means if you pick the wrong one they charge full price for the other two items you picked.

In my Supervalu they always have the 3 for €2 fruit and veg together in the one area.

Might be worth checking with one of the floor staff, if the fruit and veg aren't together

Same in my local store. It's always on an end

I should have stated that it was for the online shopping that they have two different Cherry Tomatoes.

I have brought this to their attention several times both at the local store level and with Musgraves but it seems like so many more of their pricing errors they are not too bothered when it works in theri favour so often!

Are there not different rules when buying online?

Such as distance selling rules http://www.consumerhelp.ie/internet-shopping
When you agree to buy something this way, you have a distance contract with the seller. Before you complete the purchase, the seller must clearly give you specific information, including:

The identity of the supplier and their address
A description of what you are buying
    The price, including any taxes
The delivery costs, if there are any
The arrangements for payment and delivery
Details of how to cancel the order, if you can cancel it
The cost of ordering where the cost is not already known to you – for example, the cost of a premium rate phone call if you have to order this way
How long the offer or price remains valid for
The minimum length of any ongoing contract.

You should also be given more information either before your order is delivered, or when it is delivered, including:

Confirmation of your order in a durable form, for example a letter or email that includes the information listed above
Written information on how to cancel
A geographical address where you can send complaints to – not a PO box number
Details of any guarantees or after-sales services
Details of how and when to end a contract, if there is no end date or if it lasts for longer than a year.

These distance selling rules do not apply to:

Financial services, like banking or insurance products
Items bought using a public payphone
Auctions where the seller is another consumer, for example, through an online auction site.

    Oh rules smules.

What I meant by my comment "let the buyer beware" is just that - that customers should make sure you are getting the right deal when purchasing. If not take it up with Super Valu.

If it's bugging you that much take it to the NCA and let us know how you get on? or even over to Consumer Issues - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=580

I'm not sure if it is a perception thing but I find the quality of the vegetables in Aldi (who started this whole price war on fruit and veg) to be inferior to Supervalu. Which is surprising, as the majority of the rest of the goods they stock tend to be of very high quality.

I agree with this. I'd say it's a supply chain problem in Aldi as fruit and veg seem to last a day or two less than fruit and veg from other stores.

Aldi wins on everything else though.

Do Donnelly's not supply Musgraves i.e. Super Valu? They used to anyway.

Iverk hardly got the contract for that as well as Aldi in the last few years. They've built on a good bit down there but I'd doubt it's big enough to supply both. I could be wrong though.

Has anyone actually managed to buy any of these pumpkins? I've tried 2 different shops on a few different days and all they have had are loads of the bags of nuts.
