    Hi...

    Is there an Add-On on Work that I can Insert today's date (03 July, 2013) into a word doc BUT when I open it again tomorrow- the date should stay at the 03rd rather than update to the 4th??

    :confused: Why not just type today's date?

    Alt+Shift+D: Insert the current date into your text. This command inserts a content control into your document — text that can be updated.

    The above may update if document is set to update automatically when opened, this can be changed in the options.

    You can Create a Macro and assign this code. This inserts Todays date as a Static peice of Text and will not update.
    Sub Static_Date()
    Selection.InsertDateTime DateTimeFormat:="dd/MM/yyyy", InsertAsField:= _
    False, DateLanguage:=wdEnglishIreland, CalendarType:=wdCalendarWestern, _
    InsertAsFullWidth:=False
    End Sub

    Im not sure if you know how to do that so here are the steps.
    Open Word. Press ALT+ F11
    Look on the left side pane near the top find "Modules", right click -> Insert Module.

    A new Blank module opens on the Right hand Pane, Paste in the text i gave you. Save

    Now Assign the Macro to a shortcut, or a toolbar Button, there you go you created your Own Addin.

    slightly off topic

    Pressing F5 in notepad adds current date/time

    and because it's text it doesn't change
