Replacement for front barbell squats

I posted recently about my workout/diet and someone suggested compound weight exercises instead of isolation exercise - which I've been doing now for about the past month.

My question is - One of my exercises is a front barbell squat and I'm starting to lift more. The thing is, I workout at home. I have a gym membership but don't use it all the time as the free weight section is always stupidly busy with Maltese meat heads. It's not easy (actually, it's impossible) to get the weights into position without the help of one of my housemates. Does anyone have any alternatives to this exercise? On that particular day I work my quads and hamstrings with:

    Barbell Squats - 15, 8, 8, 6
    Front barbell squats - 15, 8, 8, 6
    Sumo deadlift - 15, 8, 8, 6
    Stiff-legged deadlift - 15, 8, 8, 6

Out of curiosity, how is is it that you can back squat without a rack but can't do the same for frontsies?

The positioning of how I take the weights for the front squat is different and more difficult.

The other thing is, I've a bad left shoulder from a previous injury (dislocated my collar bone and broke my shoulder) and it causes slight discomfort in the position it rests - this doesn't affect me when doing squats, just front squats.

My injury prevents me from holding any sort of weight for a prolonged period of time. Even taking shopping to the car is a strain at times (If I'm parked far away that is).

    • weight vest, kettlebells, dumbbells, (goblet squats etc)
    • work on learning the clean so you can rack it up your self. (injured shoulder permitting)
    • buy a cheap rack online.

Barbell Split Squat. Front rack or back.

For now, when the housemates aren't around I reduce the weights and clean to my chest but can't do it over 40kg on my own (spaghetti strings :) ).

Been looking for a cheap rack online but it's tough to find in Malta or getting shipped for cheap.

Contemplating speaking to ironmonger with some measurements.

just do more back squats and cleans until you are stronger. nothing bad will happen if you don't front squat. *

*I accept no responsibility if bad things happen when you don't front squat including but not limited to floods, fires, zombie invasion or season 4 of game of thrones being canceled.
