    Here's a good one!

I was clamped 20mins ago in Rathfarnham Credit Unions car park while I was there paying my into my account!

I came out to find a clamper in action to which I had to pay 120 to get it off.

I went back into the Credit Union to complain and the manager wouldn't even come out to see me!!!

    :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

    This is a ****ing joke!

    NCPS are cowboys!!

Why did you think it was the credit unions fault?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,234 ✭✭✭Meesared

So why were you clamped then, you seem to be omitting that part?

I would imagine its because he was in the Credit Unions carpark while being in the Credit Union as a valid customer. I assume they have an exemption for customers?

Could it be that you parked in the pay and display and didn't pay? Or did you just park in the private carpark of the adjacent apartments thus denying the residents the use of it?;)

Superglue the locks on the Credit Union doors , in fact maybe superglue yourself to the NCPS van.

Start carrying bolt cutters. Ncps aren't empowered by bye law to interfere with private property in this manner.

Was it the CU car park, or the apartment car park just outside the CU gates? Some of those spaces outside are reserved for CU customers, but its not immediately obvious which.

It was the Credit Unions own car park.

If you are valid customer and therefore valid user of the car park you should not have to pay. Show them the time on your credit union slip and which should correspond to the time you were clamped and they should be forced to take it off without charge. This sounds like their mistake and I would not let it go.

Let us know how you get on and good luck.

I'd be writing a letter, with a copy of the clamper's ticket and a copy of the cu receipt to show the time you were there. Those signs clearly state that the car park is reserved for customers of the cu. I'd make it very clear that you expect the cu to remedy the matter, and that you expect a response in writing clearly outlining their remedy. I'd phone them the day after posting the letter, and every day after until they reply.

    That sh1te's not on.

That's pretty sh*tty. The signs clearly say parking only when on CU business, which you were. Were you in the CU car park or their designated spaces outside? Go to Nutgrove next time. Oh and appeal the clamp with, show them the CU slip.

Nope thats outside the pub up the other end of the village.
Rathfarnham CU actually has it's own private car park that parks about 5 cars.
It's for customers when on business there.

    Scumbag clampers are the worst.

Sitting there, drinking cans, smoking heroin, fighting and clamping cars.

Back in my day we had gentleman clampers. They'd smile, tip their hat and bid you a good day as they clanged the metal clamps onto your motor vehicle.

Always pleasant to deal with as they extorted money from you.

This exactly. I wonder can you threaten small claims court or is it beyond its remit?

Take a photo of the clamp on your car now, keep your lodgement receipt from today as evidence, request refund and a few pound for your troubles. Sounds like you have a cast iron clamped on case.

    Aggressive clampers are a pest.

So you went back into CU and took back out the money you paid in to give to said clampers?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,428 ✭✭✭✭endacl

Hey, do keep this one updated. I'm a customer there too. I parked there a couple of months ago, and popped across to the ATM across the road (about 20 feet, for those who don't know rathfarnham) to withdraw cash to lodge into the cu. Just getting back to the gate when I saw a knuckledragger getting a nice shiny clamp out of his van. Was very surprised to have to explain to him that yes, I was there on cu business, and yes, the car park is for cu customers. He actually had the cheek to look disappointed. Takes a certain type to be a clamper, I suppose. I asked to speak to a manager at the time. Again, didn't want to know...

And before the tiresome pedants rock in with 'yeah but you were at the bank not the cu', here's a preemptive fcuk off. Stop being a tosser. Go get a job as a clamper.

Why are people using "said" at every opportunity nowadays ?

I had a sandwich for lunch , on "said" sandwich I had ham and tomato .
    Why not use "the" ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,428 ✭✭✭✭endacl

    Yep

Include that receipt too. Point out that their lack of a proper and regulated clamping system led to their car park having a space occupied by your car for much longer than it should have had. Depriving another customer.

Said mode of expression is posher.

    Or is that 'more posh'...?

So you parked for 20 minutes in the customers' car park of a credit union where you carried out a transaction as a customer... and you got clamped.
Surely there's more to it? Otherwise, it should be very easy to have overturned.

So, ok the sign states for CU customers / business whichever phrase works best.

Then it would safe to say - Clamper is a tool.

Go to halfords, Go buy a clamp, then call the "Clampers" to unclamp your car.. then when they call out... Clamp their car / van / bus / horse cart and ask for 120.

    Sorted.

Make sure you place a note inside your car to say "If this vehicle is clamped , then yours is also clamp and release fees vary "

    Good point .

I propose from now on , a clamper should be know as Parking Restriction Implementors and Car Knob, also known as a Prick
