When I go to Menu >> Spark it tries to connect but always fails.

    It says "register fail"

I have it hard wired to the home netowrk and everything else I try to do on the net works from the box, youtube etc

    Any ideas?

Any help would be much appreciated.

I had the same problem and never found a solution

Mind you, I don't even know what the benefits of registering are.
But: no go for me too sorry.

I saw instructions for carrying out an upgrade through the menu which looks a lot better than searching for an image that works. It automatically loads the latest versions available from Spark.

    Allegedly! ;)

The reason it failed to connect to Spark online was because in May the weather provider of Spark Online sent corrupt data to receivers which caused some receivers to be unable to boot on startup. Until an update was released you were unable to connect online.

Once Spark firmware 1.2.65 was released the issue was solved but you could only update by USB.
