Really weird choice to give it away so close to the launch of the new game. You'd imagine theres a strong chance of cannibalising your audience for the next game. Personally speaking, I loved battlefield 4, but lost interest in 1 fairly quickly. It looked great, but never held my attention. Reckon I'll be passing on the new one as well tbh.

That's Wierd, it's usually really smooth. BF1 has excellent netcode

With bf1 the multiplayer is very accessible. You don't need to level up or unlock everything to be competitive, the starting guns are some of the best in the game

Same feeling, loved the story mode style of the others. For me BF1 campaign was just a set of tasks that felt rushed and pointless to a certain degree. Was so disappointed as it was a game I was really looking forward to.

Giving it away free now and free premium is a bit of a kick to players who paid not a small amount not that long ago. One of the reasons I won't be buying BF5 for quite some time, if at all.

All games get discounted at some point. How is that a kick to people who paid a higher price before the discount?

Sure if you wait until 2020 you might get bfV for a fiver or free, or it might be free on EA access well before that, but lots of people want to play the game and experience the content as it is released

If you spend a tenner to go see a movie in the cinema the day its released, is it a 'kick' when its shown for free on TV 2 years later?

Thats the thing. I played it a good bit of it before. Never had issues. Just that night I decided to play it a bit and it was impossible.

I restarted xbox, did a test, which showed sparklingly great connection, tried other games. It was something with EA servers. Most likely fixed now.

Hmm.... Looks like I can't get Battlefield because I have it through EA Access, which means if I cancel Access in the future, I won't have it anymore. That's annoying.

I have EA access and was still able to get it. I clicked on it, initially it said it was 39.99, i clicked back and the buy had changed to get on live (or words to that effect).

you could also probably get it via the xbox website.

In the same boat. Even contacted support to ask what's what, explained that I will not renew EA Access, and would like to keep this in my library, but he wasn't able to help. He insisted I remove the downloaded game first, then try again. I'm pretty sure the game is no longer on my XB1, but since I'm not close to it at the moment, I had to take his word and will have to look again this evening, maybe contact support again.

On the game's store page, I see only the "Buy as a gift" option. It says I own a trial version of the game, which is what I think they see the EA Access subscription as. TBH, I don't think I will ever play BF1 again, but it's a free game, dammit!

^^ Same here, I can't figure it out. I'd like to have it in my collection, even if I never play it (i.e what I do with pretty much all the Gold games lol).

I just tried it on the website and I couldn't get it (said I had a free trial, as above). Just tried the Xbox app on my phone and its says I purchased it on 1/11, and I've just sent the request to install it remotely. I'll see if it works later on.

Find out what 360 Region your account is currently set as. Mine is GB, I have to go to the GB store link for the game on a UK VPN and only then will it work for me.
