Infinite Alternative Universes

    A question:

If there are infinite alternative universes containing ever possible choice ever made, does this mean there's one where Batman really exists?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Yes, but in that Universe everyone is batman and there is a fictional superhero called "Man"

Remember, IIRC it's infinite outcomes that still must obey the universal laws of physics.

Very good point, but why? And does batman disobey said laws? I mean, he bends a few fo them, fair enough, but I don't think the evidence would hold up if you put him on trial.

It means that there's a universe where you're Batman, and likes, everyone else on this thread is Batman in some alternate universe.

Yes, and there also exists a world where his parents aren't dead, and he's a happier Batman. But perhaps he wouldn't be Batman then, then we could not talk about this. Fascinating.

Yep. This is my universe, by the way. I'm Batman here.

I like to treat American Psycho as an alternate version of how Bruce Wayne would turn out if his parents hadn't died. I hope I'm not alone in that. :D

Heh, I could believe that, Bateman, Batman, yeah! He's Bateman with his parents alive, and simply Batman without them.

Also, there's a terrific Batman alternate universe type story called Knight of Vengeance where it's Bruce that's killed in the alleyway and Thomas Wayne becomes the Batman. ;)

The time the young batman spend in the Japanese pow camp is responsible for a lot of his subsequent alienation from society I feel.

And, according to the theory, there is also a universe that is an exact replica of our own universe down to the smallest of insignificant details; the number of wing beats made by that fly in your kitchen a fortnight ago; to back forty years ago when your Father as a child had to thumb a second time, that page of his national school reading text book in order to turn it; to the amount of hairs on the heads of all the causalities in WW2; to the amount of atoms making up the dust particles on the screen display in front of you.

Maybe a parallel universe identical to our own in every respect gone by and yet to occur, but with the exception of the creation of this post here.

It is impossible to truly comprehend.

If there's an infinite number of universes in existence then there exists a universe where no other universes exist.

But how did they manage to pull much of a story out of that? At the beginning we see the altered scene, 'Thomas' surviving. Quick grey funeral. Then, basically batman.

they made a very good story. Thomas becomes quite a different Batman to Bruce, darker, for one he doesn't have the 'no killing' rule with one exception. also Martha Wayne survives as well and it shows how their relationship deteriorates after Bruce's death. there's also a particularly brilliant twist that I'm not even gonna mention :D

Nah, if there were even very tiny differences in certain physical constants you don't get atoms and galaxies.

That depends whether or not you're in a universe which allows for the possibility of universes including one where Batman exists

Yes. There's even one where you have her locked up in your mansion basement naked and she secretly loves it. But neither of them are this universe and it's Monday morning.

    Buzz killed.

If string theory is plausible and there are an indeed an infinite number of universes, each containing every possible permutation of space & time, then there exists a universe where no alternative universes exist.

Just because there are infinite universes doesn't mean everything you can imagine exists within them.

    For example:
Universe 1 has X atoms in it.
Universe 2 has X+1 atoms in it.
Universe 3 have X+2 atoms in it.
and so on, the universe functions along the same lines just gets slightly bigger every time.

There are many different types of infinity.

There is no universe or multiverse, just a single lone thought, frantically imagining what it would be like not to be alone.
