The story has been done to death and Dyer (who has become a parody of himself) is miscast.

"I would have bled to keep red in the union jack"

    Ridiculous line!

Having seeing Dyer act like a puss in his 'Ardest men tv show, it's hard to take him as anything let alone someone who was in the SAS.

Completely different movie, yet a brilliant and insightful review of :eek:Danny:eek:Dyer:eek: himself.

I see Charles Rayne survived his fall at the climax of Passenger 57 to pop up in this. It really does look like shíte of the dog, but Dany's gotta eat too.

I'd be inclined to agree. Danny Boy is a one trick pony and it wasn't even a good trick the first time.

    What was that exactly??

    Being a tosser.

After becoming a parody of himself you would think that the lad would look to break the mold, play a different type of character.

Nah, not our Danny. Fackin geezer innit.

Danny Dyer, king of the straight to video ultraviolent Britflick. Having large since the 1990s.

He also acts the hardman in real life

To be fair to Dyer, he's not a bad actor he's a terrible judge of quality. He really impressed me in Severance, The Business, Malice in Wonderland and a few others, but overall he's played the same role over and over again. The by the numbers hard geezer.

Vendetta looks like a more glamorous version of The Veteran, which for a quiet Friday night in with a few beers may not be the worst.

Yes. Severance was a great movie and his "Keep digging, we can still see ya" line was very good.

I've said it before, but Danny Dyer's greatest (and possibly only valuable) contribution to the world is his twitter feed:

I can just hear him say "Vendeh ahh" - "It's a vendeh ahh, YOU SLAAAG!"

I wish Danny Dyer would seek alternative employment, away from the public gaze! :D

    "You've got to be tall"

    *dramatic pause*

    "....taller than you've ever been"

His character in Human Traffic was alright, enjoyed that...... and maybe Football Factory, that was it though, oh wait, I liked The Business too :)

Forgot about Human Traffic! Yeah, John Simm was good in that.

    Dyer was dire.

OK, maybe not 'dire', but the pun was too good to waste. He was annoying in HT too, but I presumed he was a talented young actor playing a pastiche.

Anyone ever look at his deadliest men series? He was supposed to be a terrible cahnt in it.

Saw a few episodes. He came across as pathetically impressed by the developmentally unimpressive. And a little scared as well from time to time. The former being cringeworthy, the latter - well, kinda funny

Here's a good 'un. He gets punched by a big dollop. Gets scared, yet somehow you get the impression he really really really wants the big dollop to like him...

The only movie I saw of his that I enjoyed was Severance. If this is terrible, then we can at least expect to hear a really funny and scathing review by Mark Kermode, so there is some positive aspects to be taken from it.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 1,294 ✭✭✭Jumboman

In a recent interview danny said he only did the real football factories and deadest men because he was offered a lot of money and that it hurt his movie career. He also said that he was just pretending to be scared in those programs because it was part of the script.

530 into the interview he talks about both shows

With Dyer there seems to be no separation between the man and the actor. He is always in character, 1D.

I can't abide Kermode. About as pompous as a person can get.

Dyer's not the worst. Seems harmless enough.

Makes some complete tosh though, wouldn't argue with that but he has good screen presence and be interesting to see how he gets on in Eastenders.

Haven't watched it in years though (since Gary Kemp's character was killed off) but will tune in again to see how he gets on for sure.

Try and catch the episodes of Celebrity Juice that feature him,he really gets the piss ripped out of him but takes it in good stead.

Kermode is a legend, Dyer is a bellend reduced to acting in Eastenders.

I like Danny Dyer. He is what he is, an average actor and a bit of a character who is good for the odd laugh. Any interview i see with him including the one above he seems to be fairly honest enough and self aware. He's a hard working actor, his films are by and large sh1te, something which he admits himself.

He gets a lot of stick from guardian reader luvvies Kermode and Charlie Brooker etc. who seem to be offended by a working class bloke who acts working class.

Edit: Also, (can't believe i forgot this) My Mothers childhood friend lives in London, her daughter was in a car crash a few years back and was in a bad way. Anyway she was a huge Danny Dyer fan, typical cockney girl. Somebody got on to Dyer and he showed up to visit her in hospital, which was a really nice thing to do.

I find both can be equally irritating. Kermode is something of a character but his attempts at humour are generally cringe-worthy and most of his reviews aren't all that interesting. He tries far to hard to mock films he dislikes and a lot of the time has such a smug attitude that you can't bear to listen to him.

I like Danny Dyer. He's a very amusing, kind of eccentric character. Saw him on 8 out of 10 Cats a couple of times and he was by far the funniest person there in all his outrageousness. He knows how crazy he sounds, and still goes ahead and says it.

I like the new trailer. Danny is going to "annihilate" the bad guys in this film.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,256 ✭✭✭Decuc500

Danny Dyer and Nick Love were over one year at the Dublin Film Festival to introduce and talk about their new movie (Outlaw). I remember Dyer introduced it by saying something like "Let's just get this facking thing on, yeah?".

It was a very entertaining Q&A after the film as well.

It does look terrible. I've no time for Dyer after his Agony Uncle Colum in some lads mag, he's advice to a guy was to slash his girlfriends face! Or something along those lines.

Seems that Vendetta is getting some decent reviews and Dyer's performance is one of the films high points. No matter how poor or mediocre the film is, you have to hand it to the filmmakers for taking £100,000 and making it look like a few million.

Yep ! Lets just ignore those 3 Oscar nominations, and 9 Golden Globe nominations. He's just like Danny Dyer !!

Danny Dyer is actually the Daniel Day Lewis of his generation.

I was just thinking now that Mark Kermode and Danny Dyer are both working in the BBC its only a matter of time before the two of them bump into each other. Danny will probably try and smash Kermodes canister or maybe Kermode will knock him out like in this video. Either way sparks will fly.

"Danny Dyer has recently done a show called Danny Dyer-I believe in UFOs.I'm planning a show called Frankie Boyle-I believe in Danny Dyer, where I interview people around the country to try to work out if Danny Dyer is a genuine human being or, as I suspect, a character actor constantly auditioning to play the part of a gay garage mechanic with a serious brain injury"
