Windows XP Netbook Keys problem- Advice needed.

Hi, my friend has an acer netbook running Windows XP prof. It is his secondary computer, he mostly uses it to speak to his partner in another country.
He got it about a year ago, and it always has had a problem with the 'L' key- I got around this by always having an 'L' on the clipboard to paste if needed.
He was away for a while there and someone else had use of this netbook.
    Now several keys don't work, d, k, l, n, v, & z.
Just wondering if any teccies out there would know what might have caused this? There dosen't seem to be evidence of spillage.
Can't even use it to sign into Skype for him, as there is an L in his name & cut/copy/ paste shortcuts are not working.

Any ideas on a way to get around this also would be of great help.

I dont know about xp but win7 has an option to use an on screen keyboard.
I would suggest googling on screen keyboard on xp to see if it can be done

Needs a new keyboard, sounds like one of the scan lines is gone, loose contact, some else spilt and didn't own up, dirt, phase of the moon

external keyboards are cheap , or ebay a replacement keyboard usually easy to fit

    OR

Get him to try this :pac:

Once you stop laughing , it actually works ( move the mouse left to delete / undo changes )
