What would you do, go for a road trip in America or go to a music festival?

Road trip in America consists of going from Washington State to California

Music festival contains a few artists that on the fringe you like and your not being paid to do

Which would you do? 90 votes

Not Glastonbury, but that would of made the decision even harder if Eavis had said that this was the last one this year

I've been to Washington state, I'd move there in the morning if visa's weren't an issue. Just go there and spend the time going up Mts. Baker and Rainier, and visiting the cool places. Then head to Oregon and get drunk in the craft beer bars.

    What's the music festival?

I'm just back from the states, I did a bit of driving but am dying to get back for a big driving holiday. I'm really into music festivals but I'd have to go with the roadtrip, without doubt.

I don't think I would have the time, because I have to be out by at least four days :pac:. I guess this would allow me to see more of America

Why do you even need to ask? Seems obvious to me.

There is a reason why I normally end up in music festivals/concerts. I won't discuss why I do, but I do

Well I just had a look at Festivals in London in July and there is nothing there that would make me turn down a USA roadtrip.

You can see bands in the usa but you can't see usa in a music festival.

Why is the name of the music festival in London such a big secret OP??

Let us know what it is so we can compare with a road trip.

Bet, heh, a road trip in the US would be worth about 1,000 festivals in the UK. Just not in the same league really.

    Stop being so coy OP!

Are you actually playing / performing in this music festival OP? You seem to be hinting at that but won't say it? If yes, do you think it will be a good opportunity for you / your band? If no, I don't even see why you need to ask, road trip baby!

How well do you get on with the family member? will you have any say in where you stop off/things you see? or is it just going to be motorway driving the whole way to simply get from A to B?

I get on OK, but I don't seem them too much
I doubt I will have any say apart from any food/toilet needs etc. I've just been told the drive per day is 8 hours

You're not giving much away OP.

In general, road trip in US vs music festival in London is a clear win for the US road trip.

But now you're saying that the music festival is for work and the road trip is a family favour (?)

I don't want to go on a road trip with you anymore OP.....you'd be teasing me with information throughout the whole trip. We'd arrive in Los Angeles and you'd be like....."well, actually, we are really going to Las Vegas". Or else you'd wear my severed head as a hat across 5 states. :D

Absolutely the road trip. I've always wanted to do it. Preferably on the West coast, so this sounds like a dream holiday!

    No, you're a photographer, I get that.

Pretty much regardless of the circumstances anyway, I'd head to the US instead of a festival in London. If you can afford to turn down the work, of course.

I don't see the appeal of music festivals, they're like nightclubs made out of dirt and muck. You couldn't pay me to go to one again.

The idea of driving across America would be appealing if their roads weren't so boring.

    Just sit at home drinking.

Their roads are boring but there's lots of random stuff to do. I went to a potato museum, the spam museum, an 1880s town, a replica of stone henge made out of foam, had a McDonald's in an old train carriage... You find ways to entertain yourself on the journey.

I still think if you want a driving holiday, Europe is the only place to be.

I've been wanting to go on a driving holiday to Italy for a while now.

It would, and no matter how much I try to convince myself that it wouldn't be all that good, the idea of cruising down a dead straight American highway in an American muscle car just seems like one of those things you'd never regret.

Well fresh off the Interstate I can tell you it's not something I'll ever regret! However, there are plenty of alternative routes that would be better taken and I'll be going back to see those.

If you're speaking of driving specifically then you should just stick to here. There's plenty of great twisty driving roads in this country

If you're waiting on someone else it's never going to happen. Just book it for yourself and if they want to tag along so be it.
