Stress

Has anybody any advice on tackling stress?

I have Psoriasis... which I could normally keep under control since my early teens, but this summer its flared way out of control. I used to get it in the normal places like elbows and knees... but it's everywhere now, hands, face, legs feet...

I went doc, and got referred for UVA lamp treatment, but it'll be 5-6 months before I can start that!

I figure the cause is stress, with recent employment changes and increasing money and bills, it has me the way I am. Even my hair has gone a good bit grey and I'm not even 30! :(

Has anybody got any ideas on how to reduce stress levels?

The healthiest possible way of course. I want to avoid meds at all costs.

there's no magic answer to answer how to stop stress, try different things until you find out what works for you

I have psoriasis myself but only mild, and have a med that works for me but I don't use it much. I would recommend trying out jojoba oil which is a natural oil and can be bought over the counter. also use aqueous cream to wash your face and on other affected areas. i've found both help a good bit but not fully. it could depend on how bad it is for some and also different things work for different people.

I find having colder showers helps to stop my eczema flaring up; might help with the psoriasis too.

Start with looking at your nutrition especially getting off the wheat and sugar and making sure you are getting in LOTS of good fats (vital for optimal skin health)

    You can use e.g. http://www.iherb.com/Cococare-100-Cocoa-Butter-The-Yellow-Stick-1-oz-28-g/5833

which is really cheap, totally natural and feels great on your skin (could look at using coconut oil also)

get some fish oils while you're there - http://www.iherb.com/Optimum-Nutrition-Enteric-Coated-Fish-Oil-200-Softgels/38943

I would also pick up some digestive enzymes as thats where pretty much all inflammation starts. i use these - http://www.iherb.com/Now-Foods-Super-Enzymes-180-Capsules/857

total cost will be less than €50 and will last you at least 3 months

IF YOU DO NOT ADDRESS NUTRITION AND DIGESTION YOU ARE GOING TO KEEP SPINNING YOUR WHEELS.

Chris Kresser has done an excellent piece on stress here

    http://chriskresser.com/9-steps-to-perfect-health-6-manage-your-stress
to be honest ALL of his 9 steps should be required reading for everyone.

I have worked with quite a number of clients that made all of the above changes (especially the sugar/wheat elimination, eating more good fats, take one digestive enzyme with main meals) and their e.g. acne and Psoriasis, cleared up pretty quickly.

    All the best

No worries and its something i address with clients DAILY e.g. they show up and the FIRST thing i ask them is how they feel, what their nutrition has been like and how much sleep they have gotten.

All of it will make a massive difference so you have nothing to lose and everything to gain
