Should I take protein shakes after running to prevent weight loss?

Hi, I'm 26 year old female, 5"6' and 8 stone 5 pounds/ 54 kg, size 6/8, I have little to no body fat. I am vegetarian and have a healthy, balanced breakfast, lunch and dinner. I eat my fair share of chocolate and deserts also but am naturally thin, no matter how much I eat, eg. extra indulgence at Christmas etc, my weight rarely fluctuates.

I do yoga and pilates, but I think I am fairly unfit and so wanted to take up running to improve my cardio health and fitness. However, I am worried about losing more weight, I really don't want to weigh any less or be thinner than I already am.

Someone advised that I should take a gym protein shake after running to help build muscle lost when burning calories while running? Is this a good idea, would it prevent weight loss, and instead build muscle? But what if I build too much muscle?! What would you advise? And if you do advise protein shakes/supplements, can you recommend a brand? Basically I want to improve my fitness and health without losing weight or body fat. Thanks! :)

it's pretty much impossible for you to build too much muscle, especially since you're not doing any real resistance training.

i would advise just eating a meal after you run...protein shakes don't do anything that protein from regular food doesn't already do, they're just a supplement.
