Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hope the weather changes, blows hard with heavy rain in patches. :)

Can't deal with the heat, went through 3 1/2 litres of water during a round last weekend. That's my excuse out of the way anyway!

Btw, Back playing off 3(2.5) now I am the man to beat for the Heritage! You better have all your A-games brought with you, b!tches!

I hereby submit that I am not going to even remotely feature anywhere near the prizes on saturday - played 8 holes this evening in athlone and lost FOUR golf balls.

I'll still show up though :D

Im waiting on two of the lads to come back to me , one has had a new baby so it depends on how things are going for him and the good lady ,

The other wont know till tomorrow night ,

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,165 ✭✭✭Anatom

Looking forward to this now. Will get out this evening for a practice session, which will no doubt adversely affect any decent performance.

The trolley will be weighed down with all the water I'll have to bring. The forecast is looking hot, hot, hot!!

By the way, is there a timesheet in operation, or is it just turn up in time for the kick-off?

No timesheet just turn up and it will be an open draw. First come first served.

    Just a note to all:

Inside in the clubhouse afterwards the trophy on the seat next to him-"yeah, me mate's a copper gave me a twos and blues, couldn't have made it down only for him";);)

Just about! We were on the course for 5 hours!

It was a long one, I had to bail on the 16th, 4 hours 30 mins for 15 holes but the rough was up and we all found it at some stage.

Bar the shocking state of the bunkers the course was great, greens very very good.

I played like a mare on the front, had a whopping 7 points, was like a different golfer turned up on the 10th.

Thanks to Cathal and Alan for the game, sorry for the moaning on the front 9!!!!

I had one more point than you on the front!

I'm just not enjoying my golf the last while. Felt like a slog today

Well - the costa del midlands.
A long, hot, day for all. I think we sometimes underestimate the level of commitment that is shown to the society. Our other halves, maybe have other views. Fair play to a certain member playing in two outings in one day to make it.
A great day out, but a ball in the rough was a lost cause – a tough day and good call by the society on the green tees. Slow , but all rounds around there would be.
Thanks Paul and Denis for the Cork Company and some nice golf by all at times, Paul it was there for you -I think. Denis – it is not just in the clubs (joke) – very impressed that a man could drink 3 litters of water and not once need a trip to the woods – made of hard stuff in Cork.
Thanks to Captain and Committee for a great day out, on a great big idea course. Maybe the bunkers showing the impracticality of the place. The index on holes are hard to work out, as most holes just look hard. Index 18 is one of the hardest (Index 18s) I've seen – Index 1 looks easier than others.
Was asking Pete if we could organize a few drinks after Captains day to sign off and get to know the names – but maybe this is a non runner for most. Time, money, etc.
So thanks all again and well done Ben again.
Hope to see you all again.

Dont start about leaving stuff out there ,

Had 6 birdie attempts and did not get one !

I could not get a hold of the greens , expected them to be a lot quicker than they were but they were in great nick ,

A big mention has to go to lads that made the effort all the way from Cork , A late night for them and it shows an awful lot of commitment , I tip my hat to you lads

Myself Keith and Mark had great crack on the way around and I really enjoyed the day out ,

Onward and upwards I say !

Thanks to the organisers for the day. Weather was unbelievable. I'm just home and in bits after playing over 30 holes of golf in the one day -not cut out for that! Played well on the front 9 with 18 points but exhaustion got the better of me on the back 9 and only had 11.

Cheers to The Big Easy and Kiers47 for an enjoyable round. Congratulations to the winners and especially to Ben1977. 2 wins in a row is a great achievement.

  • Registered Users Posts: 892 ✭✭✭Ben1977

Stood on the 18th and realised i'd the same ball since the 1st. Last though in my head was don't put it in the water, the queue the big slice. Managed to finish the hole with the same ball!

Many thanks to my playing partners today, Anatom and StevieOB. Many thanks to the committee for all their hard work. Really enjoyed today, anything beats the 4 seasons the last time were in the heritage.

A great day out! My thanks to playing partners Ben1977 and StevieOB for the excellent company and the lessons in driving. Stevie can hit incredible strikes from the fairway bunkers, while Ben showed why he won the competition with some brilliant driving and iron play. I was just delighted to have 18 points on the first nine (I've often finished with that number!!) but should have done a lot better on the second.

Even so, I was delighted to win the "guest" prize, so thanks for that too...

Big thanks finally to the committee for their work in the organisation of the day etc. Very well done again!

    See you next time!:D

It was as well I found that ball on 18 for you Ben, he did his best to loose it in the long stuff! Well played and congrats to both my playing partners on their victories and great solid golf.

I am going to give you all a valuable lesson in boards golf outings.....

If you want to win........... play with me

three times now I've made it out with you guys, and three times I've played with the winner.

Will I keep my 100% record in tact next outing in Tulfarris? I hope so, except I hope to be the one winning :D

Great day, great course and all round an enjoyable day. Shot of the day to pistolpete on the last to set up a long birdie chance but ended up securing the par for 2nd spot.

Only downside was the bunkers and the amount of times I had to visit them. Also pity there was no half way refreshments as on a day like we had they could have sold a mountain of water.

Did my 49 inches hold up for closest to the pin?

If so I do apologise, tried to hit a punchy 9 under the wind and caught it a little thin but got the nicest bounce. Not the prettiest shot, better to be lucky than good !!!

I believe you were the winner as it appears from the sheet that hitting the green was a problem for most
