    and if you wanted anything the best approach was to the 'Son' via the 'Mother' - God 'the Father' didn't feature that much except as a distant patriarchal figure who must be appeased at all costs.

    There was also a host of small gods saints who would look after the relatively minor stuff each with their own area of responsibility.
