hatching eggs

    Hi Guys

    I m trying to hatch some hen and duck eggs in an incubator for some reason i cant get the humidity up past 12% the temp is 37C i have lots of water in it but it seems to make no difference i know its very important too have the humidity right near the last few hatching days anyone got any idea on how i might raise the humidity :confused:

    sheet or two of kitchen roll or tea towel etc soaked in warm water then preferibly stick the end of it in your water pot and let them hatch. The greater surface area of water available should then increase your humidity.

    I can only conclude that the hygrometer is faulty. That's an extremely low %. Hygrometers are often fickle instruments and hence often unreliable.

    With the incubator I borrowed there were vents that could be opened or closed. With them closed the moisture was trapped raising humidity.

    I gauged how much to have it open by weighing the eggs. There was a table in the instructions of how much weight loss you were aiming for and I adjusted the vents depending on the progress of weight loss.
