Java on Windows: Both Chrome & IE

I've had recurrent problems with Java on my PC (Win7 Ultimate, 32-bit) and decided to do a fresh install. I completely removed java via the Control Panel, then accessed java.com via Chrome and did a fresh install, all working properly. I also use IE10 and tested java on it but it wont work. I again went to java.com (from within IE) and note that it pointed me to a different install file. I installed this as well (system said I was doing a reinstall), no difference. Java on Chrome still working fine.

Java Control Panel (Advanced) has two tick boxes for "Default Java for browsers"; one for Mozilla Family and one for IE, both ticked, (IE ticked and greyed out). If I turn off the Mozilla tick box, Chrome re-enables it, but still cant get java to run under IE. Scripting of Java applets is enabled in IE

Any suggestions? Cant think of anything else..

Uninstall again, this time dont install through Chrome first, go straight to Java.com in IE. (or use Ninite. http://ninite.com/java/ )

    The share the result.

(Also - is that you Sir Arun?

Reverting to IE 9 is mentioned as a possible fix.

Sorry. Got it sorted and never updated thread. First was to access the java control panel via windows Explorer, running it as administrator. Then disable java in browser option and reboot. Then go back into it in the same way and reenable.
