Hi again, I provide the feed to Liveatc for dublin airport here

    http://www.liveatc.net/search/?icao=eidw

Its the top feed on that list of 3.

Anyway in trying to improve my feed I have just bought a D-777 Airband antenna to replace my Discone.

Question, should the D-777 be insulated from the metal mast pole that is gonna support it?

The clamps that came with the antenna are full alloy so they will deffo not be insulating antenna from pole.

No that will help your grounding is the straight forward answer
My dad always put a bead of silicone around the nuts so they wouldnt rust up and could be removed if required

Too late, up already, but thanks anyway.

I used the insulated mount brackets that came with my old Discone, working fine.

I went with the views on this site: http://forums.qrz.com/showthread.php?89458-Insulated-antenna-mast
