Cardio while Bulking

Right, so I'm new to the whole gym/ weight training game, only doing it around 5/6 weeks with the ultimate aim to add a good bit of muscle.

I read somewhere that absolute beginners should avoid cardio for the first few months of bulking just to give yourself a chance to actually put some weight on rather than burning it all off. I'm fine with that and I've been eating pretty well and I'm starting to see some results.

The only problem is I have an odd build. I'm naturally quite thin except for my belly, have a bit of a gut which I would like to lose, but I'm afraid to start doing cardio to burn off the gut incase I'm also burning off the calories that would be going towards bulking up my muscles.

What do you boardsies think I should do?

When you're bulking you will not lose your gut it will only grow. Do some cardio because it is good for your overall health and fitness and provided you're eating enough and don't go mad on the cardio then it will only be beneficial to you. When you feel you've gained a bit of fat and want to cut that is when you'll lose the gut

Avoiding cardio completely will only worsen your health and allow your joints to decay. Worried about losing mass? Eat more food. Cardio (Proper cardio, not 5 minutes on a treadmill) can only do good things for you.
If you want a fantastic exercise that involves cardio and strength, try hill sprints (check out any sprinters physique for proof of effectiveness).

Id disagree with most, if not all if this with respect to the question asked.

If your ultimate goal is to "put on a good bit of muscle" then you'll hinder that goal with cardio exercise.

6/8 weeks without cardio wont cause your joints to turn to mush or your heart to stop.

Eat lots, sleep lots and lift progressively heavier.
