in gym yesterday and one of the instructors was just working out, she looked great, trained perfect, and basically looked like a gym instructor.
however other instructors in the gym do not look like instructors or overly fit people,
should it be a given that if you are gym instuctor should you be obliged to be fit and heathly looking?

now don't mix up instructor with a coach, they are different they generally are passing on wisdom and knowledge. what do you think?

What do you define as fit and healthy looking?

a glow of health is easy to see in people,
i don't know, i suppose i think if you are selling health and fitness, then you should look the part,
now the owner/manager he is a fit looking guy.

if you answered an personal trainer add, and some out of shape dude turned up smoking a fag,
not say any of them look bad,

i'm just throwing it out to you all

Yeh, I agree with where you are coming from but it also depends on what kind of clients you have.

For example: I used to go to a female trainer who looked sh!t hot IMO but other people didn't think she looked good because she was 'too toned' and because of this, they wouldn't do weight training with her as they thought they'd end up looking like her.

Also, I know another trainer who's just got so much on at the moment that he doesn't have time to train so doesn't have the 'chizzled' look.

ok,then would it be fair to say, that the person you pick to train you should be fitter than you.
so if you want to body build then you wouldn't be happy with a skinny lad,
    or visa versa,
i'm a reasonably fit guy , so maybe i'm just been judgemental.

who are pushier male trainers or female?

I'd say the male vs female thing comes down to personalities. I don't think you could say one is more pushier than another as a whole.

They should have a proven track record of delivering results similar to your goals.

How they look from there is irrelevant. I know great coaches who look like crap, and crap coaches who look AMAZING.

On top of that, owning a fitness business (or any biz) is HARD. And sometimes ones own training ends up taking a back seat and leads to a sub par physiqu.

Can David Moyes score goals like Van Persie?... Can Michael Bannon hit golf shots like Rory McIlroy?... Can Billy Walsh out-box Paddy Barnes?...

I would hazard a guess that the people who wouldn't work out with a certain female PT because she was "too toned" made that decision based more on self-consciousness than not wanting to look a certain way - with a healthy dose of 'fear of failure' also thrown in...
