    Hi,

I go the gym every weekday morning for about 1 hour before work.

So far i've lost just over 20lbs in 8 weeks. I also changed what i eat.

I've still got fat around my belly and from reading online I've heard all the sit up in the world won't help and to strengthen my body and the fat will reduce.

So i've been using the weight machines at the gym more. I don't use free weights as I'd look like a fool.. cos i've never used them before lol.

So whats the best machines to use ? and what should I be doing with them.

    I'm 30 and currently weight about 215. ( 5 foot 11 cm)

Ask a trainer in the gym to do you up a program and they will show you how to use the free weights.

trainers cost €25/hour.. I could look on Youtube to see how to use them. I just feel safer using the machines.

25e an hour is a good rate for a PT!

If safety is a concern then use one instead of YouTube.

Get onto free weights or get into bodyweight exercises.

not really a valid excuse tbh. people have been using them years still look like fools.

Pay the money to a good coach who will teach you the basics (youll only need to learn 5/6 lifts)
and invest some time reading the relevant information, starting strength etc.

    cool thanks for the replies.

I will look into getting a trainer maybe twice a month to keep me up to date.

    thanks.

Once every 6-8 weeks would do.

With my trainer I booked a session to get the basics, another to make sure it was down pat and then I see him every 3 months or so just to make sure Im not losing the form.

If you have a friend you can use as a workout buddy then you would be well off. Both go to the trainer for a double session and then help each other in the gym. returning to the trainer everyso often.
