    Hi All,

I forgot about the registration deadline. Is it OK to turn up on the day. Should be making the trip from Kerry.

I believe so. Apparently it's €20 if you turn up on the day. Im just wondering if I fill in the form and send the tenner will that do at this stage with a week left.....

you can pay on the day, but be early or you'll be in the car park!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,228 ✭✭✭Thinkingaboutit

I send a cheque for a tenner last Thursday, hope they take it. I've gone there most of the past four years. Hoping doesn't rain like last year. I nowadays leave an umbrella/raingear in the car.

Forecast is good. 20C, cloudy / sunny, no rain. If only weather forecasts were more reliable :)

Your lunch might be a little moist. :D

I'll still have an umbrella and raingear packed unless the sky is cloudless in the morning. Hope it's fine.

10am? don't really know, but when they judge the place is full (maybe when they open the gates to the Public?) they send the late-comers to a car park

I might be heading up - though not sure if in the 924 (and your old seat belt!) or with the kids in tow. Either way I'll keep an eye out for you if I make it. :)

Actually, what price entry for kids, does anyone know? 3 & 4 specifically!

I was late one year, and just went to the general area for old cars, the non club area. If I was in the car park, there was Kevin Byrne's Ford V8, assembled by Lincoln and Nolan, I think. Do they post back something? I honestly forget.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 380 ✭✭superfly35

I might actually not be coming although I have the early pass and all the Turbo is not working anymore.

The dam thing stop working on Sunday, I came back home towing the car.

So unless I manage to pin down that stupid problem, I will confirm tonight but it looks fuel related to me.

Hi. I'll be there with my Austin Healey. I am not a member of a club so there is a big 'non-club' section that they will prob put you on if you are not in the Porsche Club stand. It's a pretty big section so you shld be in a good spot if you get there before 10am and pay on the day....but like the previous advice here? Get there any later and you will end upin the ar*e-end of the show somewhere.

If it's raining heavily, the corner might have its advantages, just saying.

Any idea if there will be possibility of watching Formula 1 German GP anywhere there? I'm coming with kids at about noon and surely will stay longer than hour and race starts 1PM. I'll appreciate possibility of watching just race start as I managed to get Life Timing on my mobile and can follow on my own.

A fair few cars leave before the end of the show; some even are on the road after an hour or so of the opening time of 10AM! Others arrive late or don't get to their allocated lot but yes, some simply don't turn up on the day.

There was over 1,500 cars on show BTW!

Brilliant show and brilliant weather. Ill post some pics when I get them off my iPhone

I was on Dawson St at 1.15 and the 'Lord Mayors escort' to the 'official opening' of some of the exhibits was only leaving, and at 4.20 I saw OKI *** Bay window headin home on the N11 so we can take it the best time to see ALL the exhibits was between 2 and 3

    far too few bikes imo

I think there was more bikes than last time, nice group of 5 Vincents and few more interesting machines. Last time there was one wankel-engined (Norton if I'm right) and I haven't see it today.

Was there with my 16/60. Talked to a good many. Camillus Ryan got two trophies, one or both for his 1926 Pontiac. I talked to another 16/60 owner. I talk too to a few who had them, or their father's had them, one who also had a fair few motorbikes. There was a Morris owner with what looked like traffic light indicators. Paul Barrett had his excellent 1940s Wolseley police saloon there too. The IVVCC area and volunteers were great.

Is this a real Ferrari? Had this discussion with my 7 year old yesterday, he says it is, I say it isn't. I've no recollection of ever seeing a Ferrari with a roof like this.

That's a VW Beetle with a plastic hat on.

Ha, I win, that'll show the so called 7 year old "car expert", take him down a peg or two, with his "I know more than you about cars Daddy" attitude.

Or maybe I'll say nothing :D

another cracking great show very well organized with a huge range of cars and access to some of the most valuable ones . The weather was nice and cool and only started to get really hot towards the end.

I know if i was showing that Mercedes 300S in the IVVCC stand there would have been a red rope cordon around it, such a beauty.

    look forward to next year

"Arguing" with a 7 year old can be very entertaining, hard to dispute their logic sometimes. Mostly its better to admire their enthusiasm and innocence and wish adults had more of both and less cynicism. I'm happy for it to forever remain a Ferrari.

Thats a Nova kit car which is based on a VW Beetle. It arrived just behind us when we were booking in. The driver looked a little hot and bothered due to ventilation or lack of!

From experience 1-4PM is optimum viewing time as the late arrivals and last of the convoys will have well arrived and settled in while early leavers will be in the single figures then.

We arrived at 11.30....there were (show ) cars leaving then too........and again at around 3.30.......it doesnt get dark till 10.30 people...plenty of time to get home....;)

Not if your old car is only fit for low speeds, liable to stall or cut out and you live a good distance away, which would be the case of many of the cars on show :)

The arrival of the Mayor and the MC are just annoyance to be endured. The "Country & Western" music is obligatory....

I always aim to be there around 2pm for the reason you highlight.

As always a great show. Needs more portaloos.

The pitches were in great nick in the school, nice and firm under foot. The car park in lakelands was like granite, and the dust clouds meant an obligatory hose down afterwards for my car..

    Still better than a quagmire..

Yeah the lack of smelly fone boxes was a bit of a sh1tter alright considering the crap food on offer....

A bicycle rack on the tow hitch, which I do usually do going to Mayo, would have allowed me to go home, use a clean toilet, get more water etc. It'll rain next year.

Because I was at a wedding night before, the tacky music was worse still. I could take no amplified noises of any sort. Still, it was quiet enough further out, where some interesting things could be seen.
