Looking for some opinion's on some parts of my Gym life etc...

My knees aren't great and had to stop running 2 year ago so i took up the Gym as it was low impact etc...

As i haven't tried or am ever likely to attempt Squats,Deadlifts how restricted will my progress be?
Is there a way around these exercises without doing damage to my knee's?

After my weights i always do 20 mins steady on the bike then cycle home and drink a shake then, should i have the shake asap or is at home fine?
Or should i even be cycling after my weights?

At what point should i split bodyparts into different sessions? As i can't do heavy leg work i just do a routine 2 weekly that involves a set amount of exercises..

Thanks for any replies and if further info needed just ask..

Squatting doesnt damage your knees unless your doing it wrong. What's wrong with your knees? Squatting is one of the reasons why my knees are in the best condition they've ever been.

I suffer from Psoratic Arthritis and one in particular cracks etc through range of motion, same kneecap has a slight bone cyst on it so it looks slightly odd towards the other!

I had to google that, looks painful. Have you been given advise from doctor about what exercises you should or shouldn't do? You can still build muscle without using the squat, dl etc but you will prob have to find whatever exercises/movements would suit you.

Having the shake at home is perfectly fine. Having it 10 seconds after you train is just supplement company hype.

Cycling after weights is fine too. What is your goal? Lose weight, build muscle?

How you split your training is down to personal preference, do whatever suits you or do one for a few months and then change to another and see how you go. A bw spilt routine isn't a must, some people prefer a full body workout.

Operating om a feel and see basis as regards exercises without being reckless,I am 5 months in and what i am doing seems ok.
My doctor has an imput and just says to be carfeful, obviously i ain't ever going to be lifting mental weights either.

What is your goal? Lose weight, build muscle?

Trying to go from 94kg's to 87 or so,lose weight and tone which in turn should mean weight and BF should drop accordingly..

Might be an idea to go to a PT, they might be able to guide you on different exercises to do. What's your diet like? That will be key for you in losing bf.

    Diet is fairly ok.

Breakfast is 40gms of Porridge with almonds and sunflower seeds, have this every day..
Lunch will vary from Boiled eggs to a salad with chicken or some canned fish on rye crackers
Dinners vary from chicken stir fry to meat and veg dinner or meat veg and some pasta or rice
Snacks could be Yoghurts or Coffee and a ginger nut..
1 day a week i tend to have a few treats vary from Cheerio's to jam sambo's or a Mars bar or two.
Bread is generally a no no for me outside of this 1 day,Takeaways i don't have..

Going to a PT is not an option given the cost etc..
