Said if you ordered before the sony cut off date it should be fine, no numbered list of orders also no info on bundles yet.

They did confirm I would be getting the ps4 on launch day was just wondering how they are going to allocate bundles when they have no order to when people ordered them seems a bit strange.

As far as I understand it, Smyths as an entity / head office get allocated X amount of consoles, it is up to them to decide on how many then go to each individual store, so they may get sh1tloads but some stores are further down the pecking order for individual allocations than others.

So far from what people are saying here, most stores are just getting 20 consoles in, some small ones only 10, they are meant to have only got 50 bundles as well to go around all stores.

This seems right, Waterford only getting 20 for launch and i'd call that a big store.

Well, I am number 32 ish on the Waterford list and I have been guaranteed launch day console, so they are definitely getting more than 20.

Agree about it being a big store, but I would imagine a Dublin or Cork store would get the lions share of consoles.

The Cork store is not meant to be getting many either, as gaming is not their real focus in the store, the will not be getting as many as Gamestop.

Strange they told me the other day only the top 20 were guaranteed on launch.

Smyths in Cork? Are you kidding??? Have you seen the size of their gaming sections in both stores?

I don't know about the number of consoles they are getting in Cork, but the gaming section of the store in Maylor street is much bigger than the one in Waterford.

I meant the company as a whole they are not getting as near as many as Gamestop, it was told to all the Gamestop managers a few weeks back when they all went to Dublin for a meeting with Sony and the head office.

I would well believe that, but then I believe they have a lot more stores in Ireland than Smyths do (although I stand to be corrected on that one) so I would expect them to get more consoles.

It would be interesting if we could see what their allowance to store ratio would be.

I think it is a 3:1 ratio with Gamestop having more, from what my cousin was told in Smyths in Claremorris the big stores are getting around 20 and the small ones around 10 and that they are hoping to get more in before christmas but they will come in drips and drabs.

Sorry, what I meant by the ratio was on average how many consoles / bundles would Smyths have per store versus Gamestop. Not really relevant to anything but a curiosity.

As I said before though, Smyths in Waterford have guaranteed me a console for launch day, and I am well beyond 20 on their list (32nd) so unless 12 (ish) people cancelled their order, (which is obviously possible), I reckon 20 per store for launch is incorrect.

The other alternative, of course, is that I am in for disappointment that day.

It would be a bit odd if they have 20 stores and only got a maximum of 400 consoles in, it would be quite difficult to dish them out. From what I heard most Gamestops are getting only 60 in with some getting a few more, so that would be 50 odd stores getting 3240 between them.

I know that was the number the manager of mine was told when he went to that meeting with all the other managers, they have known for a few weeks now how many each store will be getting.

20 per store seems ridiculous. Are Sony not able to produce them fast enough?

That's my line! When did you order? Did you order a bundle? It seems if you order certain bundles you get a delivery date faster.

Might have nothing to do with Sony, if Gamestop are getting over 3000 in, it seems like it is something to do with Smyths themselves, stores may have had to take a certain quantity level at launch and they balked at the idea or were happy to take a lower level, either way they oversold their quota like nearly every other store in Ireland.

Interesting article by industry analyst Robert W. Baird & Co. They reckon that Sony will only have 1 million consoles available outside of North America by the end of the year, but will hope to have another 2 million worldwide between January and March.

    http://www.vg247.com/2013/10/25/xbox-one-and-ps4-shipments-in-q4-2013-expected-to-hit-2-5-to-3-million-each/

It goes in line with what stores were saying about not being able to honour pre orders will late January or early February.

Order just over a week ago for the basic. ordered 2 consoles though, one for my brother. not expecting a miracle, but would be nice to see something in the auld email.

Details of the PS4 day-one patch have been released, with the below features becoming available after it.
    Remote Play
    Second Screen
Record, take screenshots, and upload gameplay effortlessly
    Broadcast and spectate gameplay
    Play as you download
    Multi log-in
    Party (Voice chat)
    Face recognition and voice commands
    Background music player
    Online Multiplayer
    Blu-ray Disc and DVD player

Interesting to note that voice recognition is not dependent on the PS Eye; you can use the headset that comes with the PS4 for it too. Always wondered why MS didn't do this too.

    EDIT: Sorry, wrong thread.

Yeah to play multiplayer you have to buy ps plus but you get free games and discounts every month for ps vita ps3 and ps4 it's great value much better than xbox live.
I think it's €50 for 12 months or you can pay monthly.

Was paying off more off mine in xtravision. Member of staff said that the hmv/xtravisions were getting 1000 normal ps4's and 2000 bundles between all the branded stores. More people ordered normal rather then bundles, so they will be contacted to see if they want to upgrade.
Im still down for the mega bundle though.
