    Hi Lads,

Can anyone recommend a repair shop. A truck reversed into the car and it has a large scratch, deep in places, down the side and the wing mirror was ripped off.

    Thanks.

There are several good ones but I like N&N Autobody Moycullen. Did a job for me a while back and didn't charge crazy. Also it looked as new.

Thanks Biko. I'll look them up. I'm just east of galway city if anyone knows of somewhere closer. Waiting on a phone call back from their insurance company to see what happens next. Have to go to their guy first I think. In oranmore according to their website. Alot of running around on the way:(. Am I entitled to any compensation for fuel/ time or a replacement car doing this?

I went down to 2 local lads in Ballbrit Ind. est. just for some info and they said 750-1000 euro. Car is a facelift 00 polo 1 litre 123k miles. Otherwise nice and clean. Probably worth about 12-1300 max, repaired with a fresh NCT next month.

Can you directly/indirectly get paid to do these jobs yourself or get a mate to them etc. What's the story there?

Towards the east you can try Alex Lowry Crash Repairs/ Panel Beating place. Same road as Advance Pitstop, Ballybane Ind Est.
Or Lowry Panel beating in Polkeen Estate (probably related to Alex).

I remember a poster saying they had a problem with getting a job done by that place in Ballybane may be a different place but it was in Ballybane.

Put off for ages then wrong paint bought and had to buy themselves and was done as a rush job after.

Head nothing but good things about that place in Moycullen though

See if you can find the post? It could be someone else. I've used Alex myself with no bother. Then again you never know.

@ SG There is probably six or seven shops between the ballybane and ballybrit Industrial estates.

I was down with Alex before for my last car, he seemed a sound bloke alright. I never got any work done though as the car was an economic write off for a 600 euro repair :P. Might go back too him now depending on what happens.

I think the estimate from the current place is also going to be too high and will come in around the value of the car or more. They want too replace things that aren't broken and would be fine just glued back on. So, if they come back with a 1500 euro estimate, and call it an economic write off, can I turn around and ask them to write me a cheque for 800 and I'll sort it myself or will I have to go down to a more flexible shop?

What happened to me some years ago with an old corrola after some one ran into me.It was towed to my local garage where the insurance guy checked it out. I got a cheque in the post to cover all costs.:)

Timmy Maguire at Carnmore (Kings Warehouse) is good, and does a lot of spill over work for the 'approved' insurers garages.

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
