Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Agree, excellent details instead of generic glass smashing, that'll be a big thing with next gen stuff, the minor details that will add to atmoshere, theres a shot earlier in the trailer of a load of steam coming up beside a car and the way the tail lights are seen through the fog is great.
What got me was as he was crouched beside the police cruiser and started moving towards the back, he pushed the door closed rather than go around it. I know it's only a small silly thing, but these little touches really make a game for me.

Gamespot have a gamplay demo, think it's the Ubi E3 one again with on stage developers interview and Q&A session in 90mins time. Might get some more info on this.

Was a good interview, was wondering how it was gonna handle missions etc but seems they will be going with a dynamic system they add to which could be cool

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,401 ✭✭✭Royal Irish

The impression I got from the Q&A was certain parts of the city would be a type of free roam area were you could run into other players, but other parts would be just you and friends doing missions like clearing a hide out in RDR.

Yeah i was thinking the same thing. Like when they go to the police station, what if another group of players had just cleared it would the enemies respawn on top of them? I guess its still early days yet.

Its early days alright, as its not going to be released until autumn 2014 so over a year to wait, but it is looking very very promising.

I love sand box games, my question is how, intractable are you to the environment ? can you climb ladders go into house's apartments.
While we saw them going into a shop and a Police station, There seems lieka few you can walk into and stuff but so many questions... how set in stone is this game going to be? from what we saw players can attack each other you can change your skill set on the fly, and manipulate a situation. Are you able to drive cars?

But i am looking forward to playing this game.

I'm sure you can access a lot of buildings as looting is a big part of the game, you start off with 3 days of supplies and after that are on your own to survive, that's why we see them taking the water bottles at the police station. To me this is what makes it much more than just a cover shooter, there are survival elements to it too. They say you can change your skill set on the go. As for cars, from the footage shown, it really doesn't look like there's any room to drive with all the wreckage on the roads.

Ubisoft have said if there is demand for it they will release a PC version and that people should "sign petitions, get on the forums and post their requests"

Hence a petition has been set up to have this released on PC, up to 10,000 signatures already (in 1 day). Normally I wouldn't put great faith in online petitions but since since Ubisoft said they are actually monitoring interest its probably worth a punt.

They need to stop talking about now. Just sit on it and say nothing until next year's E3 (which would, frustratingly, mark its THIRD E3 appearance with still a good 8 months to go until release) and show us the progress that has been made.

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 28,633 Mod ✭✭✭✭Shiminay

Agreed, if they could have a playable demo at next year's that'd be pretty sweet and leave it all alone till then.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,298 ✭✭✭✭VinLieger

Agreed, the gameplay yesterday actually made me more apprehensive about it. Possibly due to how scripted it was and the bizarre voice coms where they were role playing actually being in the game but then not being in the game?

Ubisoft always overdo their scripted voice comms when demoing games. Rainbow Six : Siege's demo was a prime example of it.

Very true but the Division one was just beyond bizarre in comparison, who in Ubisoft thinks this is a good idea?

I want them to use real gamers next time:

    "Bigcock69, stop teabagging those bodies!"
"I f*cked your mom last night!"
"You stupid sh*t c~nt %$(£"@$%&")_*"£$&(*%&^£$()%*^#':@{]:}{£$%£^$, and the horse you rode in on!"

With one guy who's got his volume turned right the way up creating nothing but echo, and another whose kids you can hear running around the house roaring and shouting

Great news for Xbox One owners :D

The Xbox One is the lead platform for The Division.

XB1 owners will also be getting exclusive DLC.
Division developer touts "total" relationship with Xbox One and Microsoft

Reading that article would mean that the Division is going to be optimised for the Xbox One which begs a few questions:

Will this mean a lesser experience for PS4 owners ??????

Will this be the first next gen game that is graphically or framerate superior on Xbox One rather than PS4 ????

If that is the case then are developers finally getting to grips with the Xbox One SDK and does it finally show both consoles are graphically the same ?????

That's a bit strange as Ubisoft are the devs and they have been giving Sony exclusives for a while now. MS must be definitely splashing the cash.

There could be a few reasons for it but MS are probably splashing the cash and thats not a bad thing at all being honest

Probably not. Similar hardware architecture, slightly more grunt assumed in the PS4, probably a game on equal terms for both systems.

    Doubtful, see above

Hard to say, developers in the previous generation varied lead platforms with not a huge amount of reason (at least publicly) behind it.
Example (Platinum Games); Vanquish was a developed with the PS3 as the lead platform, the 360 version was identical. Bayonetta was developed with the 360 as the lead platform, the PS3 version was not so good (though its development was farmed out, best example i could come up with).

I'd say its the expertise as well. What they are planning sounds exactly what Microsoft can offer like the Azure "Cloud" servers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,405 ✭✭✭gizmo

It'll probably just mean both consoles end up being on par with each other given the technical differences between both consoles.

Ubisoft will have a good relationship with both of the platform holders. They, in turn, will both know it'll be important for the Snowdrop engine to look and run well on both their platforms, not just because of The Division but for any other Ubisoft titles it's used to build. As a result, they'll send over some of their engineers to Massive to ensure that the engine is as optimised as time allows for each platform. This isn't indicative of a lead platform and it's fairly common with most major engine development in larger studios.

As an aside, Ubisoft/Massive have already said the PS4 is the lead platform and that they're finding it easier to develop for, here.

    They switched lead platform.

The rumour was out there in May that they were going to move and by June they had switched to the Xbox One and announced exclusive DLC for XB1 and they announced today they have a playable version of The Division already made on Xbox One. They are showing a demo of it at conferences.

My point was more the term "lead platform" in this case will ultimately (and in all probability) mean **** all difference outside of some exclusive DLC.
