Combining Bootcamp with regular gym stuff

I am thinking of doing Bootcamp classes outside of the gym to kick start some fat loss, high intensity circuit training stuff including bodyweight stuff but also incorporating barbell/dumbell weights as part of the circuit (no doubt they will be light weights).

However I would still like to go to the normal gym to do stuff. So I was thinking, 2 days of the bootcamp and 2 days of the normal gym a week.

I also may jog twice a week, but this is more to give the dogs exercise and to get some fresh air, wouldn`t be pushing it really.

    So:
    1. Two days of Bootcamp
    2. Two Days of the normal gym
    3. Two days jogging
    4. ^^Although I could do one of the jogs on the same day as the bootcamp to get an extra rest day?

Do you think this is a reasonable amount of exercise or a bit much?

I have been jogging and going to the gym reasonably regularly so it`s not like im jumping straight into it, I just think the bootcamp classes will give me the kick up the arse I need.

to kick start fat loss, you need to look at your diet first.

while the bootcamp will no doubt help, if your not eating right you wont see the results you want.

some of the bootcamps are pretty poor so try and find one that mixes up the cardio / bodyweight exercise with plyometric and metcon work too for best results.

Depends - what's 'normal gym'? You don't want to be doing 100squats in a circuit today and going for a squat PR tomorrow. Be smart about it and it'll help you with your weight loss for sure, but be stupid about it and you'll end up breaking yourself or at the least impeding your strength gains.

I'm in a gym that has some decent strive and hammer strength equipment so I've been using that. I am aware that the free weights are better so I should really move on to them.

In terms of being smart I would plan to do the "normal gym" two days after the boot camp ie day off in between.

One of the "normal gym" days would be the day before the boot camp so would do it first thing in the morning.

The only reason I'm doing the boot camp is so I can eat a nice greasy filthy takeaway afterwards.

Ah no yeah diet is a challenge alright. The last time I did a boot camp I found myself craving healthier food though. It had frog jumps.. Is this plyometric stuff? !

Join a place that combines both! Structured Strength training combined metabolic conditioning & diet will get you the results you want! Plenty of CrossFit & non Crossfit gyms doing this now, just make sure they're good at what they do! ;) Where are you based & someone might be able to suggest a place!?

That would be my suggestion too, worth looking into it as a possibility!
