The other good thing about this test is that to get to the end of it MI5 can add you to a terrorist suspect list for the answers you gave.

"Could you be president of Israel"

-of course you could it's a perfectly functioning beacon of democracy in the middle east-

    Wooohooo! All correct
    Congratulations!
Your views should endear you to the establishment. You can run for president. You are one of the lucky few: 686 candidates registered this year with only 8 approved.

Wonder if they'll do a similar one for eligibility for the British Monarchy?

We should compile a list of sample questions for this.

    1) "Have you done an etiquette course?"

The BBC is a pretty rotten institution believing it's own blurb but protecting it's institutional celebrities (News and Entertainment) and never asking difficult questions of the Military.

    1) "Have you done an etiquette course?"

    (2) Are you a Christian
    - We will want to know what kind of Christian you are. Catholics are not eligible, mind!

I don't expect the BBC to be praising or endorsing Iran, but they might at least control their more sardonic contributions in light of anti-Islamic attitudes already pervasive in their country, which has a significant and peaceful Muslim population.

    The empire was (is?)?

    A) an enlightened charitable ideal bringing education and enlightenment to millions of savages

    B) a violent oppressor who generally killed thousands in any country before granting them their freedom

I completed it, I'm not eligable obviously, but still, terrible piece of propaganda imo.

    Are you eligable?!

That's OK, President of Iran is more akin to being President of Ireland than president of the US anyway, they don't have a huge amount of executive power.

For a start, if you choose 'Iranian' as the answer to the first question, before you can continue; a pop-up appears with the following
As well as being Iranian, all the candidates for president are expected to be devoted to Islamic Republic of Iran and keen to make sacrifices for it. According to the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, you will need to be 'tenacious and resistant to pressures from enemies.'

...as if one should be shocked or disquieted by such a revelation. Oh noes.. the president is going to be expected to act in the best interests of his country and resist the pressures of its enemies, let's bomb it now to be on the safe side!

I may have added something at the end there for dramatic effect =p

But seriously, do you not find the fact that there's such a questionnaire to be a bit suggestive and leading?

I really dont understand this hate Iran bandwagon, Israel has dont worse and yet they're a great bunch of lands. I could be wrong but I heard Iran is one of the better Islamic countries for non Muslims as they are tolerant towards others, but that could of been propaganda from their side.

Sigh, yes the queen/king of England has to be protestant, their main role is to be the head of the church of England, also the pope as the head of Catholicism must be Catholic, their is a differences between this and havingto be a certain religion to run the actual country, but I guess yous already knew this but wanted something to be outraged about, dam BBC bullying that bastion of freedom and enlightenment Iran.

Reminds me of of a former independent democracy where the government's wishes were rejected by the people in two referenda only to be polled again because they gave the wrong answer the first time.

From what Ive heard from people, Iran probably. Im not muslim so Israel wouldnt be too bad for me though.

There was some guys on ray darcy (or was it ian dempsy, cant remember) one morning telling how they were cycling all across europe and over to asia somewhere. Passing through Iran. Apparently the Iranian people are really nice and normal and not the suicidal maniacs we're led to believe.

    Who would've thunk it?

So you want to live in a country where all women are forced to wear a hijab in public, that is under Sharia law? A place where adultery, alcohol consumption and homosexuality are crimes? A place with no freedom of the press, a place that executes political prisoners, as well as children?

You rather live in this place rather than a liberal democracy? Is that what you're telling me?

You make it sound like they are exclusive things to Iran. Ireland has done plenty of those things or a similar act not too long ago. I never claimed Iran was a bastion of democracy and neither is Israel, they both have their problems but so does every country.

I dont want to live their or Israel but given a choice of Iran or Israel I would edge towards before doing some more research.

You would swear I said it is a brilliant country that we should aspire to be like instead of saying that I wouldnt mind spending some time there. You should be careful about making comments about muslims, might get charged for something because of our blasphemy law.

If you had a modicum of reading comprehension then you would realise that I was speaking against the nation of Iran and not it's main religion

If you had a modicum of reading comprehension then you would realise that I was saying that I dont think Iran is the warmongering, western society haters that the media makes it out to be.

Now I must go to a gay marriage of a friend who is then going to adopt a child and send the child to a non denominational school because this is Ireland where we have equality for that kinda stuff.

The Beeb is a propaganda outlet, always was. Just look at the spin they are putting on their coverage of the Turkish situation. Try and find any reference to William Binney, etc. etc. Having a poke at Iran is all in a days work for these spooks. If you want the real story try boards.ie:):D:D:D:)

If only all multiple choice tests were so easy I would have done a lot better in school. Unfortunately picking the top answer to every single question doesn't usually work.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,798 ✭✭✭goose2005

Didn't think it was that awful, it's not mocking the Iranians or calling for war with Iran, it's just criticising the lack of democracy.
