Any particular reason excluding Flye Fit? I used to go there and it wasn't anything special but it did the job for a decent price.

+1 on Raw though, only heard good things about it.

BHAF in Sandyford is a little further out than Raw but would definitely recommend checking it out.

I already heard of it. Might check it out though but dont like the fact that its pretty small and heard that it gets jammed.

Thanks all for recommending. Will check them out.

    Any other gyms?

It's not that small. All gyms get jammed at peak times.

It really is the best gym around that area.

Edit: I was talking about RAW

The one in Ranelagh does get proper jammed at peak times. I was in there when I was thinking of moving house and the guy showing me around advised me against it if I was looking to train between 5-8pm as there is normally a good queue for the squat rack and not much floor space for DLing etc. They don't have any pull up bars either.

Go for RAW. I've been there years and you're never waiting long on equip + it's just a better gym.

I am thinking of joining Flyfit in Ranelagh. I am mostly looking for cardio training, threadmills, bikes, rowing machines etc, and some weight training (most likely machines). From what I can see on the webiste they have a large numer of cardio machnines, but I wonder given how centrally located it is how busy the gym gets in the evening and weekends. Had a membership of Carlisle Gym, but done with that place now due to queues etc..

Can anyone advise of how crazy this place in evenings, say from 7 - 9. Any up to date info would be much appreciated...

It's busy enough in the evenings but there's never really too long of a wait for any of the cardio equipment.

Cheers for the reply. Apprears good value, and the month to month options means probably worth joining for a month anyway.

I would also suggest RAW. It has a great range of equipment and, while it does get a bit packed between 6 and 8pm, you are still never waiting long.

There's a lot of cardio equipment so you'll always be able to get on something. Had to wait for the bikes once or twice as there's only 6 of them. The weights area gets fairly jammed at that time of the evening though and you probably will have to wait for benches, dumbells, squat rack etc. to free up.

Cheers for this. Think I will be heading into them tomorrow to join. Give it a shot.

Really enjoying RAW myself, when I was in college I could go during the day and you'd have the place to yourself. 17:30 to 20:00 is busy but you never have to wait long for anything.

I was a member in Ben Dunne's on Jervis street before and thats a nightmare when its busy

The addition of the new machines means there's even less of an issue when it's busy. Depending on how flexible your workout plan is,I suppose.
