Based on your life experience, what is the key to happiness? Here are some popular contenders:

    - Having whatever you want
    - Becoming rich and famous
    - Attaining wealth and power
    - Having a positive attitude
    - Attaining freedom from external control
    - Doing what you love for a living
    - Being true to yourself
    - Having lots of good caring friends
    - Having romantic love
    - Having sex with different women
    - Receiving public recognition and praise for your accomplishments
    - Rising to the top of your career ladder
    - Becoming successful in business or career
    - Becoming self-aware and spiritual
    - Doing creative work
    - Peace of mind and good health
    - Helping others
    - Giving love and receiving love
    - Raising a happy family in a good home

What do you think? What's the most important out of all those?

What has been the key to your happiness? What do you think is the ideal path to happiness?

Doing things that make you happy.

That's the most specific answer I can give you, because different things make different people happy.

Few words 'inner peace and tranquility!' no weight or rubbish on shoulder. No worries. Not having to put up with crap from life things and people. Less problems to deal with. Go to bed happy. Enjoy your day and life.

No complications things and life simple!

    - Having sex with different women

Would this be the "harmless" forced penetration you referred to in another thread?
Never understood this view. In my view, rape should be punished equally with aggravated assault, if even that. Is it REALLY so, so bad to be forcibly penetrated? I do agree the crime deserves jail time, but only a minimal sentence. False accusations of rape are obviously rampant, so if 10 to 15 years was given, the chance of innocent men serving that time is extremely high.

When did I ever say "harmless" in all my posts on this site? How is this me implying it's harmless?: "In my view, rape should be punished equally with aggravated assault." Why do you think you can misquote people?

Moderator, please remove this crap post she posted from this thread. This thread is supposed to be a deep discussion about life.

It's not really fair to bring that quote from another thread in here though is it.
It's not relevant to this thread.

I think she was just making people aware of said posters frame of mind as in 'can you trust that persons comment', and his comment 'highlighted' makes me worry also of said persons frame of mind

Granted, but there's no signs of trolling from the OP in this thread so I think it should have been left out.
Not trying to have a go here or anything at you Lethal Lady, just making the point.

Based on your life experience, what is the key to happiness? Here are some popular contenders:

For me the one change I ever made to my life that made me much happier than any other was ceasing to judge myself by standards set by others. Their success - looks - fitness - skills - education - money - or whatever.

Instead I changed towards trying to improve myself in some way EVERY day and comparing myself to one standard only. The person I am today I compare to nothing but the person I was yesterday.

As such many of the things you put on your list are not actually that important to me. They are not targets I want to attain or measures I judge myself by.

realising that life is indeed a bitch, so the less you think about it and all the bad stuff that goes on and try to 'fix' the world the better, concentrate on living it instead of how you can make it better for others you dont know or care about deep down apart from getting browning points for when you meet that arsehole on the cloud when the music stops later on

or just moderation. yeah moderation, Ill go with that. moderation is the key to life, enjoy the rough with the smooth

also life is not to be taken seriously, laugh at stuff, everything, to yourself in your HEAD not out loud, well you know the things you secretly laugh about to yourself? keep doing those.

have fun! but be responsible at the same time, in essence dont take the piss with the way you behave, moderation remember. do good if it makes you feel good, dont worry usually gets you nowhere anyway except stressed and wrinkled or something

but yeah trust me on the sunscreen.

I´ve already posted (sunshine and being a good person) but I think the absolute key is not judging yourself against others. So much easier said than done, so tell me when you have that one figured out. Also filling your time with things you like doing with people you like and who respect you. Always have something to look forward to. Not wallowing. If you feel a bout of that coming on, leave your house and walk. Also having some objectives in your life no matter how small. Going easy on yourself and realising you´re only human.

    Sunshine.

A wee poem from my grandmother, on the subject of happiness.

    Half the happiness of living
    Comes from willing-hearted giving;
Comes from sharing all our pleasures
    And dividing all our treasures.

    And the other half is loving;
First yourself, then all things living.
So, each person should be sowing
Love-seeds while their life is growing,
For all the happiness of living
Comes from loving and from giving.

Or standards that you wrongly think are set by others. The "done thing". Stopping this for me has helped greatly.

There is no key to happiness. Peaks and troughs, light and shade-that's what life's about.
