Skeeeeeeeup Gorfield! Hopefully goes deep in another championship once again :)

Nice to see Liam Ashby getting in aswell. I played with him down in the West Qualifier this year. Lovely golfer! :)

Met Liam in the clubhouse and he is a sound bloke. Wind is up today, 35 km/h with gusts of upto 50km/h. Pins are generally in the middle of the greens.

Eoin Arthurs wins 6 and 5

very sound and one of the best accents I've ever heard. A mixture of about 4 different countries ;)

Woo Gorfield, through the 1st round :)

Greystones players going strong. The only club with two players in the third round and both look comfortable to make into the quarters :)

Be great to see them face off in the Final :)

Nobody by that name in the line up as far as I can see, maybe he didn't qualify

Edit: Do you mean NG? He lost by 1 hole in second round

Dunne has won his 3 matches 5&4

He's still hanging on! I thought McDermott would be too much for him, but I see they are still A/S after 21 holes in their Quarter Final

    Jaysis hes done it!

    Semi-Final lineup

    Cormac Sharvin (Ardglass)
    Vs
    David Byrne (Greystones )

    Jonathan Yates (Naas)
    Vs
    Paul Dunne (Greystones)

Could be an all Greystones affair! :D

    me too :D

been out all evening so couldnt believe it when i checked the score just now, especially as when i left it earlier, David was 2 down with 2 to play. You'd have to feel sorry for McDermott, he won this morning on the 6th playoff hole and lost this evening on the 4th playoff hole. 46 holes in one day, he must have been shattered!

be great if they both get to the final... has it ever been done before, two players in the final from the same club?

P.S. must have a game with you sometime Kevin, anyone else from our great club on Boards?

If you're really nice we won't tell him it was you that jinxed him from getting into the final

Jonathan Yates chips in on the 18th from an impossible lie to win the 18th and take the match down the 19th.

    2up thru 9

''That first nine holes was played in 1 hour 35 minutes - incredible. The way golf should be played! A credit to both players.''

    Good to see

Sharvin is 2up after 9 holes

3.52pm: That first nine holes was played in 1 hour 35 minutes - incredible. The way golf should be played! A credit to both players.

few pros could learn from this!

I know it is matchplay with only 2 players and nobody in front of them, but when you consider most tournaments will have 2 balls on the weekend and can take up to and over 5 hours per round, it is a world apart.

Dunne birdie on 17 to bring it down the last, sounds like a good match in not great conditions!

    nail biting stuff.

big swing on 11th hole when Sharvin held from 22ft and Dunne missed from 7ft. one might say it was a 2 hole swing which knocked the stuffing out of Dunne, but he has bounced back well to bring it down 18

When do you normally play at Greystones? I'm an early Saturday morning golfer.

Wow, according to the below article Cormac Sharvin only took up golf at 15 and went from 20 handicap to scratch in 3 years, incredible stuff.

Normally like to play late afternoon, but with young kids and SWMBO, it can vary from time to time. Will stick my name down beside you some Saturday or maybe at a Boards outing....
