School boy error on my part and I hope this helps a few others.

THe default gateway on most devices is 192.168.0.1. If you have this set manually on your devices this needs to be changed to match the default gateway of your new router which is 192.168.1.254. DNS Settings may also need to be checked.

    Thanks

having problems with severe packet loss. d1000 modem i believe .

    been lurking around :

theres a thread about unbranding the modem. the few threads i foudn by a person named(user name) Dermot Mcdonnel about unbrandign the f1000 modem

there was another thread where the problem was solved by turning off the firewall on the router... .

any idea whether the d1000 modem can be easily unbranded ? since the post is about the f1000 unbranding , or are they the same thing >?

or would i be better using another router?

Lads it may be a little late to help and this may not even work, but I found that the router may have a couple samba server problems, rather than fiddling round all day with, use FTP! Using this network path I was able to use it with no problems! ftp:// 192.168.1.254 Also I guess you all know to use the same username and password you use to log into the router on your browser...

    PPP username eircom@eircom.net
    PPP password broadband1

    vlan 0 & 10

    mtu 1492

    primary dns 159.134.0.1

for those looking for the firmware for the f1000 go here its actually a test version but no different to the version 1.00(AAHA.4)D0

Using this modem for anything other than routing is just going to end up in a mess. My advice would be to get a decent NAS device is this is the way you want to go. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.

I've already had issues with it updating dyndns..

If you use it as a router , use the Wifi and a bit of port forwarding. Otherwise get it into bridge mode and get good stable hardware capable of your needs.

I had a quick scan of this thread, and didn't see what I was looking for - If this question has been asked already, I apologise...

I got the efibre installed there around 2 weeks ago. I notice that every 10 hours or so, internet connectivity is lost. The router will show (via lights on the front), that it is connected, but my tablet / phone or whatever will show an exclamation point in or beside the wifi signal bar, meaning no or limited connectivity.

Anyone else experience this, or have maybe found a fix?

    Thanks guys

Try changing the DNS from eircom to google.

In the broadband settings change from auto to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

The other problem is the WiFi, make sure your neighbours aren't interfering with you WiFi.

Im trying to forward ports for call of duty black ops 1 and it wont work despite following countless guides.
What a piece of rubbish this modem is to use.

The WiFi range is unbelievably sheeite too

I had the same issues lads, showing as connecting via wifi but wouldn't connect to the Internet.

Tried connecting in browser using just IP addresses and working away fine, for whatever reason the eircom dns servers weren't resolving the website addresses.

Just posting to say that using the static Google dns settings has worked for me.

Was getting seriously pi$$ed off having to restart that router once a day.

    Thanks

I'll give it a go. The latest firmware has resolved most of the issues?

I have F1000 on my customer site.

I can open remote access to it and it works ( port shows open)
    - WAN Type: Ethernet WAN
    Firmware Version: 1.00(AAHA.4)D0_20150310
Does anyone have port forwarding working on that firmware?
    Under setting I use ETHWan
ports all set as 82, server ip 192.168.1.200 ( works on local network and I can ping it from the router)
Unfortunately port stay closed. UPNT is disabled. Tried with firewall disabled and set to low. Tried Empty WAN IP under port mapping and as well my static IP.
As modem use IPoE I believe I can set it in bridge mode and use third party router with DHCP Client on its WAN interface to obtain my static IP address. but I am trying to avoid that solution.

Is your customer on FTTH? If not you shouldnt be using ethwan.

That was original config on eircom modem and it works.
In the main time I solved problem with port forwarding.
DVR did not have gateway setup to the router ip address
After change - port forwarding is working.

Is there anyway to get better speeds?

I run a phone extension cable from the phone socket in the house to my room would this have any effect on speeds?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,170 ✭✭✭✭ED E

Most likely. If you want to do that you need to run CAT5 cable terminated with RJ11 connectors. But really you want to leave the modem at the master socket.

Is this still the same router that Eircom /Eir provide with new efibre installs? I find that the WiFi range is poor.

Nope, F2000 now (huawei not zyxel)

Hi - hopefully someone can help here - tried the few solutions i found on boards but none work. I have a f1000 with usb attached. it works fine on windows as a share and on my raspberry pi for kodi. just got a mac and tried to access it and Finder does not see the server at all. I manually add using smb, cifs and it craps out saying share is not valid or available. I added it using ftp and it works fine but I cannot move or write any files it complains that it is read only. Anyone have any ideas - am new to macs so haven't got a bogs notion.

Yes, it is dual band 802.11ac so will have much faster speeds if you have devices that support the latest 802.11ac protocol. Range will be the same as before on 2.4ghz, 5ghz will have less range because of the wavelength of the higher frequency has less range and penetration.

Is there any way to programmatically get the wan address from this router? I'd like to use it in a small Python program run from the lan.
I can ssh into the router, so if anyone knows where this info might be stored I might be able to get it that way.
    Thanks
    Karl

    Add your reply here.
    To answer my own question

    Ssh in
    /sbin/ipconfig ppp0
Trim output to get IP address

Couldn't find the ip address stored anywhere else

Can anyone tell me the correct way to change the default DNS servers?

    is it Network settings->broadband->VDSL->Modify->Dns servers?
