That geography paper was too easy BEAUTIFUL! Thanks SEC <3! :D

Everything went well, I knew all the short questions (except the ones about the fold mountains, I said the Irish mountains are alpine, is that wrong?:o).

The long questions were beautiful, especially Q1 and Q5 :D. Really happy, I had to rush Q1 a bit so maybe that's a bit messy. I've included key terms and like a diagram for every question, so hopefully an A! :D

Hope everyone eles did well, or their best! :D Roll on maths paper one! :pac:.

Wow definitely think that was the easiest paper so far! Most of the short questions were grand and the long questions were lovely too, I could have answered all of them, haha :) pretty hopeful for an A! :D

Pretty sure I got an A. Quite easy, I wrong a page for each part of the question so, 9 in total. + an extra half a page, took me 1.5 to do the latitude, prevailing wind, and the distance from sea question.

Very simple paper! Pretty sure that I got up in the 90s

Ah, I knew it XD. Had a gut feeling, I don't know why I didn't follow it :(. Good luck! :)

I don't really know what to think about it! I spent most of my time studying physical geography(Rivers, coasts, climates etc), but a lot of section 2 was urbanisation Etc, which I didn't study much! however I did manage to get through it, hoping for an A!

The OS map, seen Enniscorthy and instantly Kelly the boy from Killane began playing in my head...
Enniscorthy's in flames and old Wexford is won, tomorrow the Barrow we cross....
Least I was nearly done by then

Oh my god I thought I'd feel better by coming on here but I feel a lot worse.

    I didn't know anything.

And I studied geography so much, like too much I thought. I left out rivers and greenhouse effect coz they came up last year so I was already screwed there, in two questions,
But like I studied soils so hard but I didn't understand the question at all

And I thought the short questions were really difficult.

I dunno if I should be embarrassed to say I am crying because I am pretty sure all got was a D and I got an A in the mocks and have studied so hard since then

I am still kinda in shock tbh

The greenhouse affect did shock me too, but it's common sense for me. There was a soils question? :o I must of left that out then. I only did Q1,Q2 and Q5 XD. Don't cry :) you'll learn from your mistakes not to trust patterns anymore.

The thing is though I can't learn EVERYTHING so in patterns that look obvious I always try and do that

I still did have quite a good knowledge of the whole course though
I guess I kinda went blank with the stress

what questions did everyone do? I did 1,2 and 5, it seems like a lot of people in my year did them too

1, 2 and 5. I had no time to re-read, that's how rushed I was XD. I wrote a lot, only had two pages of the booklet left. :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 144 ✭✭claryfray

I did Q2, (I knew part A and B perfectly but wasn't sure on part C.) Q3 (left out the Bord na Móna question.. I did the soils but I didn't understand what the question was really asking..?, Part B and C was fine I think) and Q5 which I am usually ace at but I thought it was really difficult.
I had time left over and decided to do an extra question, so I did
I knew part A and C of question 4 but couldn't figure out why they were asking it part B so I didn't do it :/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 144 ✭✭claryfray

I am scared because everyone said they had to rush and I did an extra question and got time to read back over my answers

I am a mess right now, and I know I have to put it to the back of my mind but...my Geography teacher is going to be so disappointed in me and he's like my favourite teacher, we get on really welll, and the though of facing him is making me sick. And also I feel like such a failure myself so that sucks.

I got 4 questions done with 40 minutes left lol
No need to be scared, people always do better than they thought they did in the JC

Don't worry, everyone has their bad days(I get them a lot). If it makes you feel better, I think my english teacher will commit suicide if I don't get an A in English, same applies with my geography teacher. Forget about geography and worry about maths now! :)

Why would you be upset? You could have easily done well and still had time for your extra question. Not everyone works at the same pace.

aaaaaaaaaaagh, i succumbed under time pressure and so left out a part of a question worth 5%. otherwise the paper should have been an A

I said it had industrial, transport and tourism function lol
I had a chat with my teacher afterwards, he says industry's definitely right, and it depends how I explained the other two...

That was really easy I thought. Map and photo questions were the only thing that was difficult for me and I waffled a bit.

    Super easy geography. I'd expect a high B or a low A.

I do them because they come up every year but thinking about it I probably could have said more about other questions. Ah well.

And the fact that the paper was as easy as it was, makes me think that they could make the marking scheme harder.

Yeah, I wrote as much as I could and gave loads of info... I thought the questions were deceivingly short and straightforward... hmm. Loved question two!

i was kind of annoyed cause i knew question 4 but i didn't know the rhine so i had to leave it out :( i knew it so well i wish i did it instead of os map cause i lost 10 marks in that accidently anyways and more for waffling so like i could have just lost the 10 marks in the rhine and got full marks on the rest :(

For the first short Question, what were the parts of the volcano?

For the soil question what did people write? I wrote all about leaching an hardpan and stuff but now im thinking i should just have written about the topsoil humus subsoil parent rock ect? :(

And for the organised migration for the ulster plantation could you have written about ireland being exploited for its agricultural produce as an effect?

    Thanks!

I think the volcano parts were: Vent, crater, magma chamber
Soil: I wrote about top-soil, humus, bed rock etc.
And I guess you could get away with the agricultural produce answer

I said vent pipe for the second one, do you reckon that'd matter?

I said vent pipe, do you reckon that'd matter?

No, I'd say the examiner will see Vent and Pipe and think you either, forgot to rub it out or were under stress and will give it to you anyway. It's one mark, however, so it's no biggy.

I am really hoping for an A
I am pretty sure I got full marks in the short questions but I did pretty bad in section B mostly because I had learned everything was tired due to lack of sleep, I did Question 1 and 3 and 5
I really hope that I get an A, but I doubt it due to my map drawn poorly and the migration part in Question 3 was answered poorly as well
But maths was a piece of cake :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 102 ✭✭LawdyLad

For question 3B (i), what did people say as their answer. The question btw is "Name one example of organised migration that you have studied."
