    first u subtract 1.20 from 1.17 and u get 0.03 then u divide 0.03 into 1.20 multiply by a 100 and u get 2.5%

    4(x-1)-3(5x+2)equal 12
    4x-4-15x-6 equal 12
    4x-15xequal12+4+6
    -11x equal 22
    divide by -11 answer -2 :P

    So,

    3x^2 - 19x - 14 | GN = -42 (2)(-21)
    3x^2 + 2x - 21x -14
    x (3x+2)-7(3x+2)
    (x-7)(3x+2)

    x^2 - 49 = (x+7)(x-7)

    (x-7)(3x+2)
    (x+7)(x-7)

    The 2 (x-7)'s cancel each other out, giving you

    (3x+2)
    (x+7)

    I think that's it.

    Could you offer advice on the question that usually comes up in question 3? The one where you have to come up with the equation. I can never manage to get the equation out and it annoys me so much! An example is this question:

    Do you have the answer on hand? I don't know if I got it. I'm in the same boat as you atm.

    No! I literally can never get these questions out. I know how to do them once I get the equation but I can never form it. :confused:

    Just looking at the solution here... I won't get that on the day. I can never get the equations either.

    I just read the marking scheme there to find the answer to part (ii). Once I got that, I knew how to do it straight away! :mad: I can just never work out the equation!

    first question : full in 4hrs divide by 4 to get a 1/4
    second question; we don't know hours so we say x full in 1 hour 1/x
    then we get an equation 1/4 + 1/x equals x+4 over 4x
    last question x+4 over 4x = 1/3
    4x=3x+12
    x=12 hours

    are maths teacher says if u write a lot of information down on paper and u didn't solve the question u still get marks for it so for example if I got the equation written down 4x+2/8+2 I still get marks so dnt worry but try hard to try and solve they give attempt marks even if the answers wrong (y)

    Not true really sorry to some girls
    but the girls in my school who are in my year do pass maths and those who do honours and it is around 30 only in the whole year 120 students or so do honours and they struggle at it I would say only 10 would be considered A' or B material
    I am a boy btw, I love maths :)

    It's always girls that seem on the ball (no jokes intended) except for one or two guys I know. I guess we disagree there. Although I did hear that guys get better at math from 16 onwards for some reason. Beats me.

    I thought so, but you think we'd be largely finished, huh? I mean, sure, there's about 3 more years, but to have that big of an effect is peculiar.
