Lost 3kg in a week? Should I slow down?

    Firstly a bit about me...

    I'm 28
    5 7" (ish)
    89.6kg (was 92.6kg 8 days ago)

I spend most of my day at the computer but I usually do weight training for about 1hr, 5 times a week. Note that I had been sick in the last week so I have only trained yesterday and the day before.

Last Wednesday I started using the My Net Diary app to track my calories in order to help me lose weight. Going purely on the estimation of the app, my maintenance calories is ~2700 with my BMR being ~1800. I've cut my intake to 2200 (37p/32c/31f).

So far, having dropped 3kg, the results have been amazing. I don't appear to be losing muscle and I didn't feel particularly weak in the gym since I've been back either.

My question is is this too much? I always hear the 2lb/week max and I understand I'll lose more at the beginning but that's 6.6lbs in a week!?
Even considering that, I don't feel like I'm under real pressure, as in, I could shave off more calories if I wanted and I'll definitely be starting some cardio/HIIT/something to aid the fat loss in the near future.

Can anyone put my mind at ease here?

You said you were sick, what was wrong with you?

Not much, just a bit of a cold for 3/4 days. FWIW I made sure to hit my 2200 calories in that time, despite having a little less of an appetite.

Ok, that was all I was going to suggest that depending on the illness maybe your appetite would be suppressed.

I noticed when trying to loose weight the first week or two i lost 6-9lbs then after that was loosing 1-2 pounds a week thereafter. Yes you being sick may have helped. you also mentioned you lad a little less or an appetite so that would have helped ie less snacking.

The amount of fat you can lose depends on how much you have to lose to begin with. Ie a man with 35% bodyfat can lose more then someone with 12%.

Also the first week of dieting there's a woosh effect of losing water, glycogen and some fat etc. If your gym numbers and performance isn't suffering then you're doing fine.
