Putting on weight with new exercise regime

    Hi all

I've been doing my new exercise regime of kettlebells 2 times a week, an aerobics class twice a week and running/ strength training 2 times a week. I have lost a couple of inches but nothing major. I've lost weight before but haven't done this much anaerobic exercises before. My diet is healthy - about 1200 cals a day not junk food apart from the odd treat at the weekend.

However I am failing to loose any weight - I stepped on the scales tonight and I've put on 2 lbs. Any advice??

If you've been losing inches but not losing weight, you're doing it right!

Losing fat while getting heavier & losing inches.

    Keep doing what you're doing.

Don't worry about weightloss, focus on fat loss & know the difference between the two.

How have I lost lbs and inches in the past? Is it due to only really having cardio?

Do lbs start dropping in a while or will I continue to put on weight!?

You seem to be fixated on dropping weight solely. What exactly is your target? Don't think target weight, but instead think target shape.

Most people workout to look better and be more attractive to the opposite sex. Weight, which is an arbitrary number doesn't come into it. Similarly, if you pick up a Playboy or similar adult content magazine, they will often list a models dimensions, e.g. height, and width measurements, but they never list a models weight.

Muscle weighs more than fat, which would explain you weighing more on a weights regime than a cardio only regime More muscle, means a higher at rest metabolic rate meaning you burn more energy, and therefore fat when not working out. As others on this thread have said, if you're losing inches, keep doing what your doing.

Edit: Lost a couple of inches is great. Well done!

Thanks for your responses. I am a woman and my goal is 9 stone 4.
Ideadlly I'd like to be 1stone down in 8 weeks

Also is it possible to put on that much muscle in 3 weeks that it would weigh more?
    Should I up the cardio?

That's something that annoys me, i have a yearly appointment with my doctor and they say i've put on weight like it's a bad thing, i tell them i train with weights but they then tell me to do cardio.

What are you basing your target weight on?

    Get a new(maybe a younger?) doctor.

If you were able to look substantially better at ~11 stone than at your target weight which would you choose? Is there a specific reason that a weight figure is your goal rather than indicators like better shape; better fitness; better performance?

Sounds like you're making good progress and working really hard (probably could eat some more calories actually tbh!). There are so many indicators and measurements of physical progress available other than the scales!!

ask most men and they don't want skinny girlfriends.

focus on losing cm off waist and other vital areas - upper legs, upper arms, neck, chest.
keep eating lots of healthy food - eggs, tuna, hummus, lean meat, veg veg veg

you'll look better, feel better and need a new wardrobe - shopping!

get a body fat test done properly + do proper strength work + have some test metcons/workouts you can check performance improvements off = win

everything else is just guess work e.g. laying out one day of your diet is NEVER a true reflection of an entire week or month. Log it

Transform could you name/ link to a few of the test metcons you like to use?
