I'm cutting at the moment and was just wondering if someone could have a look and see if my macros are heading in the right direction. I know my macros won't be the as others but anyway here they are.

    2000kcal/day.

    Protein- 720kcals/180g
    Carbs- 560kcals/140g
    Fats- 720kcals/80g

BW is 172pounds. Any thoughts/recommended adjustments?

    Cheers,

What are they in %'s ?

My maths could be way off but you consumed 400g in total so that would make

    Protein 45%
    Carbs 35%
    Fats 20%

Looks good but I'd up the healthy fats

I always though when working out macros it was based on the % of calories consumed rather than the grams consumed. Which would make it 35/30/35.

As I said, not a notion! I gave it a shot! That makes more sense though! :o:P

I though this too ^^. I'd agree with upping the good fats too. 2K cals seems a bit low, what defecit are you on daily? Have more fat on rest days and less carbs. You might have to play around with it a bit to get what suits you. I know for me when cutting my macros are approx 50fat/30protein/20carbs or 40f/35p/25c depending on my workouts etc.

I just went with the 4/4/9 rule and worked it from there what I thought was decent:pac:

I don't understand what you mean by daily deficit Ant, sorry. I just tried to keep my fats and carbs relatively low tbh.

Macros look alright to me. Try it for a wk or 2 and adjust as you see fit.

Have you worked our your TDEE? Lets say it was 2500 for arguments sake and your eating 2000 a day. then you have a 500 cal defecit a day and would potentially lose 1lb a week.

Hitting in and around 50/30/20 or 55/25/15 myself most days at the moment (cutting).

When Ant refers to a deficit he is talking about a calorie deficit below your maintenance level of cals.

EDIT: just to add, it's worth fcuk all if your protein makes up 50% of your diet but you're not taking in approx 1g protein per lb bodyweight. (Which you do seem to be doing successfully at the moment)
