Resistance Tubes V. Weights

I got a Reebok resistance tube (like a resistance band except its a tube!) and I find it a lot tougher (in a good way) than using handweights for excercises to tone my arms. Do I still need to use hand weights though or a kettlebell or are resistance tubes/bands just as good. I always thought that I need to lift something heavy we'll say to tone my arms?

Bands are great and have their place but so do weights.

I like bands for their continuous tension which imo is safer to a degree than lifting weights.

If you are starting out though the bands will be fine for a while - consistency being the key. :)

more people get excellent milage out of just using their own body weight.

You can do a chest to floor full length press up yet? chin up? Bands are helpful but like any piece of kit should be one tool that you use to get the job done. I tend to use them mainly for re/prehab work with clients e.g. band pull aparts, x-band walks, face pulls, rows etc

No you have some upper body strength and just need to bulid it up. I find clients never make much improvement from the knees. Try doing them with hands on elevated surface like a table, sofa etc with body perfectly straight.
