Theme of storytelling, comprehension about cliffhangers and mentioned some my favourite programmes?! Loved it! :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,345 ✭✭✭✭stephenjmcd

Really good exam , nice essay titles aswell , really happy

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 320 ✭✭andrew369

Question A was fine got a page out of each part. My part B was a bit waffly but ok. Unfortunately my story ends very abruptly on the 4th page due to time running out (that 20 minute extra jargon on the list of subjects is very misleading) but hopefully won't be penalized too much, especially with a whole text on the paper dedicated to cliffhangers. :P

Well story telling was a newbie :P

I didn't like those essay titles. Generally I thought I did well, but seeing that everyone is so happy, they'll probably adjust the marking scheme and I'll end up doing really badly :( .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 482 ✭✭woopah92

Straight forward exam. Essay titles extremely vague, the way I like it ;) A talk about the role of TV and radio. Easy enough. Comprehensions seemed simpler than normal.
I had it hyped up to be something bigger than it was. Twas grand.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,466 ✭✭✭Clandestine

I spent too long on text a and B questions, only managed a little over 3 pages on the essay. At least it was a pretty solid essay, imo. I'm a little worried about my handwriting too, I think I made it too small and I had to cross out so many words.

I'm sure i did alright in the end though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 941 ✭✭✭11Charlie11

I had a page done in the essay when I realised I didn't like the title so I was completely waffling .. I did the personal essay on the everyday treadmill :( I only wrote 3 pages :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 178 ✭✭Dropping No Eaves

My part B was quite unfocused and I kind of drifted about, reiterating the same points. Is the introduction to a book quite an informal affair? I modelled it after the casual notes authors put at the beginning of their books, I hope that was what they were after!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,988 ✭✭✭Monsieur Folie

My comprehension answers were actually quite good and they are usually where I fall down in the exam so over all I'm very happy. My personal essay and talk on TV/Radio both had elements of informal language (as is expected in those) but I just hope I managed to get the balance right and had enough flair to get me through. We'll see. :) Roll on paper 2!

I wouldn't say the marks for paper 1 will be so heavily looked at that anyone will do badly on it, unless they wrote feck all and of very bad quality. Paper 2 will be the one they start changing any marking scheme for. If you think you did well then the marks will probably reflect that, don't sweat too much over it now that it is finished. :)

Did that talk aswell and did essay 7 on reunion could base it around the gathering

Thought the comprehensions were quite difficult myself, must have spent at least an hour on them. Got over a page on them all I think. B question was okay and I flew though it. Short story titles weren't the best but thought I had a good beginning and middle to my story, ended quite weak due to the time constraints. Didn't get to read over my paper at the end either.

I didn't like the paper tbh. That's not to say I did badly, I think I did grand but I too hope I got the balance between formal/informal right for my QB (introduction). Comprehension was alright, wrote loooads for them but the 20-marker I did felt a bit shaky, was a bit messy, and I haaaated all of the essay titles but I think I did alright in the end with what I settled for.

No idea how I did! Not too badly I hope.:p

Omg I didnt even think of that.
I did 2 articles today.. My first and 2nd, oh god >.< :pac:
Both my B (and Q6) were pretty formal tbh, tho my B less so, with a few sarcastic and silly comments along the way.

Im on a bit of a downtrod after this tbh.. However Ill remain hopeful for tomorrow

I did the article on the rural and urban lifestyles. Mine was informal and light hearted too :o
I basically pointed out the reasons of the advantages of rural and urban lifestyles... Was I going on the wrong path?

Am I the only one who did a descriptive essay on glimpsed moments? I had done an essay that fit that title so perfectly i practically wrote it word for word, I'd say half the country did the talk on Tv/Radio, But still I'm quite happy :)

Simples! Got to recycle the only A1 essay I ever did.
I got carried away though I literally wrote the last word on my paper when she said time up :D

i did the same, mine was pretty casual, didn't use any formal language tbh

was pretty happy, did first comp wasn't thrilled with my style answer but sure what can ya do. Did the first essay on the unheroic world and disagreed

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,326 ✭✭✭Scuid Mhór

An alright paper. Composing was, so was section B. Thought the comprehensions were tricky enough though!

I asked my teacher whether it was formal or informal and she said either of them would be correct for a popular magazine. How long was your Q6?? I only managed to do 3 and a quarter pages, ran out of ideas :o

Mine was four and a half but Id have slightly larger than average handwriting! My friend did it too and she wrote just under 4 pages so Id say a lot of people struggled to get much length out of it

I think my essay was too short, 3 pages 10 words a line?
