So, this thread is mostly for posting what stationary you're bringing in before each exam, the main purpose being to stop you forgetting anything.

    For English, I'm bringing:

    - Blue pen
    - Black pen
    - Ruler

And I think that's it, might bring in a green.

Quick question: How do we bring in books for English paper 2? Can't have a bag, so?

In my school, we're not allowed to bring any books in to the exam hall. It's different for every school I think. Ask someone tomorrow morning

Yep, but you have to include it with the paper you hand up.

Is it recommended not to bring red pens as that's the colour the correctors use?

Don't use red or green - they are the colours used by Examiners and Advising Examiners.

    Yes, use a black pen.

Yes, I'm certain you can label with a red pen, Arnie is just worried about pissing off his examiner. A fair point.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 102 ✭✭LawdyLad

I was only planning on using red pen for headings etc. The content will obviously be written in blue/black.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 286 ✭✭cfc.forever

Yes you can ask for graph paper and you can ask for accounting paper if you're doing busy, you don't bring your own paper you ask for it :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 712 ✭✭✭MmmPancakes

You can use a red pen for headings, but don't go near the right hand margin on the writing paper with it, that's where the examiners correct in red pen, you don't want to confuse them.

    I'm bringing:
    Black pen x5
    Blue pen x2
    red pen
    ruler
    eraser x2
    pencil x5
    sharpener
    calculator
    colouring pencils
But this is for all the exams, not just English..

I find it very disconcerting that in a thread ostensibly about an English exam nobody has pointed out that it's spelled 'stationery'.

I was wondering, can you ask for rough work at the very beginning?
(For English I needed lots more paper...and it wastes a lot of time waiting for the supervisor to see your hand up and then bring it over :P ) Seems silly that you wouldn't just ask for it in the beginning when you know you're going to need it :P

My teacher told us to ask for two copies of rough work paper at the start ...:pac:

Yes you can, you just need to hand it all back up at the end. They will give you it in bits and pieces, not all in one go as they have to keep a note of how many you got so you can make sure to hand it all back up.

This may be slightly off topic but do you use biro or pencil for graphs in maths?

You lose marks if you do it in biro (according to my teacher)

    I'm bringing:
    -Blue pen x2
    -Black pen x2
    -Calculator x1
    -Pencil x1

You have a point about the calculator. Your exam number sticker should be on it
Remember your exam number people! It's as important as a pen...

Who cares what you look like (though I shaved today just incase I forget in next 2 weeks, that's different looks! :p), don't look around, look at the paper, if you have absolutely nothing to write on read over the next few questions or take a break/ kit kat with your hand up of course.

I would advise you guys to bring in colouring pencils for CSPE, yes CSPE is a real test too, just because it's easy doesn't mean you should disregard it and end up getting a B or C. Also at the end of every exam if you write a note like "Ga raibh maith agat, Is aoibheann liom striopach" at the end of your irish exam your examiners will look back through your paper to look for more ways he/she can add marks when correcting your work ;) My sister did it for her JC and it got her a B!

I love CSPE. I can't wait to get to the good old colouring. Sit there like a happy little camper.
