What Protein Powder?

I've always been active but the ould diet has been pretty lax for the past 6 months. I go to the gym roughly 3-5 times a week and am active enough on my rest days anyway (walking dog etc).

I've recently started the 'strong curves' program and am looking to buy some good whey protein powder. I'd prefer isolate, with as few (or none if possible) artificial sweeteners and flavours. I bought nutrisport whey protein isolate from a local health food shop, and I like it alot, but I'm not sure if its the best option for me. I also tried a different peanut butter cookie flavoured one, and it was so artificially sweet I thought it was horrible.

Can you recommend one that would be suitable? I will be aiming to hit 40% protein, 30% carbs and 30% fat for my daily intake of 1800 calories.

Also any advice from lifters would be appreciated. (especially if there's any women lifters out there!!)

    :P

I'm female, 5ft 6inches. Goal is to lose weight and do 5 proper chin ups!

myprotein has few unflavoured ones and not only whey, and I think bulkpowders has something similar

Forever Lite Ultra with Aminotein is absolutely the most natural protein shake i can think of. Naturally flavoured, dairy free, MSG free and because its full of amino-acids it helps you digest the protein better meaning you are getting more bang for your buck. You can use it as a meal replacement or as an extra meal to bulk up. Hope that helps. Its distributor sold though.

Well its debatable, recent studies have suggested soy to be as effective if not more so than whey in terms of its ability to produce lean muscle mass. It's also great because it's vegetarian and comes from soybeans and not cows or other animals who have been pumped with chemicals and fed grain instead of grass, like a lot of protein shakes these days.

Soy Protein Isolate is the main component of this protein powder.

As with whey protein isolate, soy protein isolate is the most pure and refined soy available. Soy isolates are made from the de-fatted beans, but with most of the other ingredients removed, leaving almost a pure protein source (at least 90%+ on a moisture-free basis).
Soy protein increases the nutritional value of other foods due to its complete amino acid profile.
Soy has been shown to reduce the likelihood of heart disease through its ability to lower cholesterol.

Also Fructose is a fruit sugar which means it comes from natural FRUIT sources. I don't see the problem?

and the soy is organic, non-GMO, right?

there are many natural poisons too... :)

BTW, did you create an account just to push this product here?

Yes NON-GMO, other ingredients in the protein yes, if you would like me to list them off i can :)

    http://www.health.harvard.edu/fhg/updates/11-foods-that-lower-cholesterol.shtml

SOY is one of those 11 foods, and a lot of research indicate the same thing.

There are many natural poisons too, thats nice but fructose doesn't seem to be something that is killing anyone off seeing as it's in a lot of foods.

and BTW No i did not create an account just to push this product here, i created an account because i had an old account years ago and forgot the password, its the first thread i went onto and then i looked up other posts on the same issue. I also looked at other posts and haven't found anything of interest to comment on YET.

Thanks for your concern, I'd love to know why people on Boards have to be so hostile and comment so negatively having no experience in a situation or product, it's up to the person who asked the question to research the product themselves. I'm just putting a suggestion out there.

Protein powder is going to be way down the list of priorities in achieving those goals. At your size you mightn't need to supplement at all.
