I had then since I was young never bothered me. My wife didn't like them so had them removed. Had it done in the mater. A bit of discomfort for a few weeks after but no lasting pain. On the flip side they weren't doing me any harm either just no one liked looking at them.

My father recently had this surgery done on both legs. I believe they use a lot less intrusive method now which involves tiny incisions in which they get access to the vein and shrink it using heat / laser.

He was back walking (small amounts) the next day.

Have them too....am really not looking forward to general anesthetic and really need to drive (kids to school, work etc.)They are disgusting, but have managed to wing it for a while. They are not causing any discomfort, but look awful and am really embarrassed. would love to be able to go swimming with the kids, but wouldn't like to cause them huge embarrassment

Ive had the same leg done twice. Ive had them since a teenager, and they really started aching and throbbing, so got them whipped out.

OMG I sooooo need to get them removed....have them for a couple of years now and they are a MAJOR hangup at this stage.....just need to pluck up the courage to get the op cause I am such a wuss when it comes to all things medical but I am at the stage where I am being held back now and felt like an absolute idiot last weekend sweltering in skinny jeans........!!

I wouldnt get them done just for cosmetic reasons. I had the major operation done where they pull the whole vein out through the groin. You are left really black and u have to wear really attractive surgical stockings for a few weeks. You have to start walking straight away even though it hurts
I didnt expext mine to grow back after 2 years.
Even after second operation leg is still swollen, but I have no pain now.
For anyone who has pain with them you should def get them out.

Had them done last Friday. Need to take short walks 20-30 mins this week. Bit of discomfort in the groin were they went in but little pain in the leg. Was advised to get them done as they were getting worse and would end up causing problems.

My father had them done on both legs a few years back and had no problem with the operation. No real discomfort after and was back walking in a few days.

I'd get them assessed by a vascular surgeon if I were you. They'll carry out a duplex ultrasound and advise on further treatment.

There's a range of treatments available depending on the severity/complexity etc.

you need to keep walking and as normal awalk as possible don't limp.
it takes a few weeks to get back to normal but it is worth it , well done

Mine grew back. I had it done twice on the same leg in 2 years. Even now 3 years later my leg is still swollen, but no veins yet (crosses fingers)
