as posted in the discussion thread here is the order for the first round, which will then be reversed for rd2 before we do another random draw in rd3 and every second round following

The rules are as follows:

unlike in other variations on a soccer forum draft this time all players from all leagues in the world and from all times past and present are eligable to be drafted. The quality should be immense

players will be considered as good as they were at their prime when picked. This includes currently active players.

There are no rules limiting how many players you can pick from a certain club/nation or if you can pick from the same club/nation in back to back rounds. If someone wants to create an all Irish / Barca 11 they can.

Everyone has 24hrs to pick but we would hope for a far better turnover between picks than that and if you know you are not going to be around when it will be your pick then i'd suggest pming your pick to the person after you or someone else online at the time in an effort the keep the game moving along smoothly.

Once teams have been drafted another site like random.org will be used to draw a list of quarterfinals, hence us having 16 draftees. These QFs and subsequent matches will each be given their own thread with a poll where people can vote on whos team they think would win. This poll can be voted on by anyone and all votes will count but the poll will only be added to the thread after both competitors have explained their selections / gameplan.

If there is a tie after the vote then we recount with only voters who explained on thread why they voted a certain way will have their votes counted.

First pick is Lothar Matthaus who is the most complete midfielder in the draft. Won almost everything there is to win in world football at a club and international level , played almost 600 games scoring a little over 160 goals.

Maradona described him as the best rival he ever had, he is the only German to win FIFA player of the year, he has played in more World Cup games than anyone.

He is the best box to box midfielder there is and the man to anchor my team.

This has been quite difficult to choose.

Going for the resin hardest to replace in my side if picked by someone else.

Part of the greatest 11 of all time, won two world cups and revolutionised the game. Garrincha is the best right winger to have ever played the game, had pace, vision and trickery unlike any other. He is known for his dribbling and taking on opponents. He will slot in perfectly for the formation I want to play.

This was an awfully hard decision. There was a player on the right wing who I wanted to pick, much later in the draft, but he'll have to be on the wayside. this guy is too good to pass up:

Hristo Stoichkov. I remember as a 8 year old watching this guy crush the World cup in 1994, one of the best players to ever wear the Barcelona colours, he won every prize there was to win and more or less every personal accolade.
