Jeez, I can't get a break with these dates.

Down in Waterford for a big family gathering that weekend (celebrate the wife's Grandad turning 90). Hopefully squeeze a game in while I'm down that direction.

Would have been a handy enough course for me to get to normally too. Played it once & really enjoyed it, lovely layout & a very friendly clubhouse.

Should be a great day out for ye lads.

    Enjoy!

I played Dunmurry last week, the course was in unreal condition, the best condition I've seen a course in a long long time, huge carry in play, I normally drive 210-220 and I had 4 drives 260+.
    Great venue, enjoy!!
    Stupid 6th hole though

All depends on the wind, if its blowing down the second it can be a long day. Given the weather we are having, I'd imagine the rough will be up, the greens will be fast and the wind will be blowing!!!

It looks short on the card from the whites but it is all to do with the wind. Its on a hill, so if you have a electric trolley bring it. There is a monthly medal on before so expect it to be a bit slow.

The 6th, some people can give or take, there is a whole thread on this topic, members find it ok, you just need to play this hole a couple of times.

I'm hoping to be there, just need to check the schedule, as its my home course. Any help I can give you lads just say the word. I'll confirm hopfully by the weekend.

i am afraid lads this is virtually a home venue for me and i feel a 40+ pointer coming on, it"s time for tiger to show his claws will be returning from a ten day break all refreshed and ready to get on that leaderboard.
My experience of this course is people either love or hate it, i'd put it in my top five, course knowledge is a distinct advantage especially some tricky greens with 2nd,4th,5th,9th,11th sure to catch the rookie out. if you get a good drive down the 6th fairway it,s a enjoyable hole and otherwise your sure to enjoy the views from the green. if i don't come in with a minimum of 35 points there will be a cheap set of adams a4 irons for sale.

Played at the weekend for the first time in about a month. Course is in great nick. With the weather we are having at the moment, it will be in top condition for us. Hopefully we'll get no rain, would be nice for one of the outing!!!

Are there still only the two tees - basically making the course short or long? I know that was one of the early complaints.

I've put my name down and looking forward to going back - 1st time since 2008.

Played it Monday in a junior scratch cup, I'm off 13 so it was just a day out:) It was off the blue markers and I thought it was loooong, and where did all those hills appear from in flat Kildare.
I was on my last legs by the time I got to 12 and then to see a 484 yd par 4 .

    thread more carefully :)

If you are not a member of the boards GS then you will have to pay the cost of the round to us + €10 but if you are a member(you can join for €30) then all rounds are €30 this year.

I think its a good deal, according to their online booking its €40 to play a round on that Saturday and for the same price with us (as a non-society member) you are in with a chance of winning some nice prizes and are guaranteed a good day out. Have a think about it!!;)

I was looking forward to this lads as I've never played Dunmurry Springs and have heard good reports about it but as it clashes with the Lions V Wallabies I'm gonna give it a miss.

I am sorry but I will have the blinkers on, love my rugby too much and will want to do my own George Hook routine at home, analysing the match to my wife and two daughters who will be looking at me sideways.........:D

Looking forward to the course, supposed to be in great condition, hope the rain will allow us to hit balls onto the green!

Course was in great nick 2 weeks ago, I can only imagine it has improved with the sun and now a couple of days of rain.

For anyone who has played the course before, the course route is being changed as we speak, I'll be playing the new route this weekend.

Hopefully pete will be doing his bit on the weather! Remember Esker Hills? :D

The exact kind of attitude that would stop me wanting to be part of any society.

    Good job pal

Ok feeling in a good mood. So ziggy here's the deal you play the next day and I will pay half your green fee for you. ie I pay 20. If that works for you let me know and I will arrange it. Reason i am doing this is because times are tough and i can. Plus other response was a bit harsh I felt.

just joined DS last week,i think the change of the layout is going to be great.

thinking of going down on Wednesday about 10.30 to pick up my bag tag etc, anyone who wants to join me to get a look at the place before the outing are more than welcome.
Unfortunately i'm away for the outing myself.
Having played the course just once my one tip is bring loads of golf balls.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 449 ✭✭scubapro

As part of the committee I felt it was my duty to check out the course to ensure it matched the high standards of the discerning boards golfers :) I can report that the course is in great condition, and the new layout makes the course flow better in my opinion plus the finish is now harder than it was previously with 14 through 18 potential card wreckers, though playing off the yellows I did find the course playing on the shortish side, though it was still a great test of golf, hopefully the weather will be kind to us and if it is we are all in for a treat.
