    His commentary

Now I'd be the first to question statistics, but I think this commentary is a bit startling from a Crimewatch presenter.

Regardless of his views, surely this will just perpetuate women not reporting rape?

This kind of knuckle dragging shyte being given media space makes me cry inside. Have a look at the thread in AH too, lots of voices of reason but there are still people out there who have no understanding of victim blaming and its prevalence in our culture.

I think for men a lot of their insecurities stem from a fear of being accused of rape in cases where a woman consents at the time but changes her mind in the cold light of day. But the fact is that false rape accusations are minuscule in proportion to actual rapes that go unreported.

I also think that victim blaming and telling women to cover up lest they provoke a rapist is as insulting to men as it is to women. It says that men are beasts that can't control their urges so women need keep temptation out of their way.

I know that the way it's being reported in the media focuses on womens reaction to his statements but its still incredibly damaging to women to have this opinion associated with someone who is a media representative of the justice system. I think he should publicly retract and apologise or lose his job.

"For them, rape isn't always rape and, however upsetting, they feel it is a long way removed from being systematically violated or snatched off the street."

    Oh Nick.
You could've encouraged discussion about cognitive dissonance and perceptions of rape.
Instead you went out there, on your own, probably late at night (what were you thinking?) and you wrote a book.
And then you led me on with your provocative "but have we gone too far the other way?" Even though you know that women who have been raped are treated appallingly. (Just women?)
But you say one thing and mean another. How am I supposed to know what you're thinking? You should've made yourself clearer.
So now I think you're a tool with not very interesting things to say who needs to publicise his book. And it's all your fault.
