Thanks for all the views again folks. I think for clarity, this will start as a national first responder charity, comprised off paramedics and EMT's.

A group insurance scheme that specifically states cover for responding to emergencies with the option of blue light cover if they wish,PHECC qualified advanced drivers only. Hopefully at a reduced rate than what people are currently paying. Benefits in the way of discounts on tyres, servicing, medical equipment etc....

I only wish to focus on this notion, not compare it to the other well established, excellent services already out there.

All other aspects of the charities visions are things that will come with the fullness of time in relation to courses, Doctor involvement and any other aspirations.

I just want a one stop shop for Para's and EMT's to set up as a local responder in a simple way that will give them the reassurances they need and a formal link with the NAS.

What about CFRs and EFRs? There are so many CFRs in the country there must be a good chance one could respond to an Echo faster than NAS. There just needs to be a mechanism to alert them of the call. EFRs mightn't have O2 handy but could still provide first response to Deltas too.

This will, if it takes off, be expanded to be an all inclusive charity.

The practicality of starting it up and for easier running, practitioners are best initially.

Once there is enough equipment, supplies, financially viable and if it is working well and proven to work then we can equip all other grades CFR, EFR, Nurses and Doctors.

The issue of being a CPG approved organisation is dealt with by the WCRR being tasked by NAS and as such they fall into the NAS CPG role. The doctors are also phecc registered.
It is the same way that off duty NAS P and AP can treat up to the CPG level, they just call control and tell them they are on scene. They are then covered by NAS.

    Nice one Stevie06 - sounds a lot better :).

Just an update folks, constitution is done and being sent to revenue, insurance is still being dealt with by a broker.

Bank account being arranged and logo is being finalised.

Once revenue register us and bank account is open, I'll seek some small donations to set up a website or at my own expense.

Once the website is set up ill seek expressions of interest first to see the scale if membership we may achieve and any further progression will be dependant on that.

Baby steps, that could be months away yet.

    Ill keep ye updated.

Fair enough. Not to be a wet blanket, but have you checked with NAS that they would support such a scheme? If not, who will task you? May be a waste of time if this issue isn't sorted out at the start.

It's kind of a catch 22, I would rather have numbers before I approach them. They are already supporting these schemes at a local level so I imagine a national one would be ideally what they would look for. However if they don't the charity can be wound up quiet easily.

I would like to know that we can set it up first before I approach them on the matter.
