Hi more trouble with my outboard I think it's overheating now. How do I know if the water is being pumped ?

Unless it's a small air cooled engine you should have a small pee hole at the back or side of your engine squirting out water like this.

IF you start the engine on muffs you should also have water coming out of the prop and with the exhaust if not I would start by dropping the gearbox and checking the impeller if you don't know when it was last done, then once you know the pump is working you can look for a blockage.

Put it in a tub of water and make sure that the water intake holes are covered over , that way you'll definetley know if it's pumpng or not.
