In the Fantasy it has Cariaso vs Da Silva yet the fight is Cariaso v Formiga, has there been a change?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 180 ✭✭dilapidating

Top 10 clash on facebook prelims?
Must really not like the flyweights.
Some performance from John Lineker though.

OUCH, that must be the hardest kick in the nuts i've ever seen!!!

Wow! Very nice striking there. Hopefully a sign of things to come

Edit. And a good stoppage by the ref too. Nice too see

Plenty of great stoppages out there, just that we always seem to take notice of the bad ones more

Can't disagree with that, just thought I'd mention it.

That was a good battle. Some leg kicks sucked up by Thiago.

Tibau went into beast mode at the end there with a great finish.

Who will be next for him.

This is the highest up the card Lentz will probably ever be.

Strong likelihood of him fighting McGregor a fight or two down the road though if McGregor keeps winning.

Did one of the judges score that fight 28-27?????

Yep, One of the judges gave it to Lentz 28-27, How the fcuk does that work?? No points were deducted

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,970 ✭✭✭Lenin Skynard

Jesus they got Valasquez to talk up how much of a threat Silva is, even though he made a bloody, pulpy mess of Silva with ease not very long ago. It's like a re-match between Penn and Stevenson.

    Dunham. Robbed.

Definitely, i was 10/10 too until that.

Had Dunham winning 30-27, albeit a very tight 1st round that could have gone either way

I missed half the fight so I don't know what the text was like but its the only way that a judge possibly ended up with 28-27 with deductions.

    Stupidly lopsided fight.

Good lord what a spinning heel kick - against a much taller guy, pin point accurate, got the head around first

    Absolutely delighted for Belfort !

How the hell is he still capable of doing that after 16 and a half years in the top drawer of MMA after 33 fights... including probably 16 or 17 match ups with top 10 guys.

    16 first round finishes !!!

Kind of feel bad for Rockhold, this might be in his head for the rest of his career but hopefully he'll come back stronger.

    I want Siva Belfort again!!!!

Honestly think Souza would finish Chris Weidman in the first round.

Belfort is a true warrior and he has one kick one punch knockout potential against anyone including Silva. Now I don't think he'd win... but he'd have as much if not more of chance at beating Silva than anyone else.

I don't know enough about the Belfort TRT thing to make an informed comment but it's annoying the crap outa me coz as far as I know it's within the rules and his exemption is genuine so until he's proven guilty of breaking rules like Overeem or whatever then I don't think we can say for sure he's cheating or that it taints his wins - TRT didn't give him that sweet head kick set up against Bisping nor did it help him pull off one of the best knockouts ever in the UFC last night... neither had anything to do with TRT both wins were brilliant - a Souza fight would be awesome and I think Belfort would be too much violence for Souza and would knock him out! and if he does he deffo deserves another crack at Silva !

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,503 ✭✭✭adamski8

You state you dont know much about trt use but your certain it had no impact on how he won his last few fights.......

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,830 ✭✭✭Be like Nutella

yeah fair enough : )... I just hate when my fav fighters get accused of cheating

actually tell me what the deal is with it if ya don't mind and what evidence is there n all that.. if he's cheating I'll accept it if there's good enough reason

I just don't see how TRT can help him win the two fights with lovely kicks but like I/you say I don't know

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,503 ✭✭✭adamski8

Well a quick google will help you out there but just ask yourself if it doesnt help him win fights at the end of the day then why would he take it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,971 ✭✭✭✭scudzilla

Dunham was so robbed, but what do you expect from them judges, i'm still trying to figure out how 1 judge gave Lentz a 28-27 win, that scoring means 10-8, 10-9, 8-10!!!!!!!

My understanding of TRT is, a fighter who has a low testosterone levels can legally take TRT to bring their testosterone up to normal levels.Belfort is 36 I can understand why he might need TRT is it fair? Not really

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 386 ✭✭monkey8

    - TRT didn't give him that sweet head kick set up against Bisping nor did it help him pull off one of the best knockouts ever in the UFC last night... neither had anything to do with TRT both wins were brilliant - a Souza fight would be awesome and I think Belfort would be too much

The extra testosterone can help him maintain and build muscle.
This can give him that extra explosive power and speed to land those head kicks.

His testosterone level was within what is allowed by the commission

after listening to Bones here I get it, fair enough... it's gotta go. Stand corrected. Ya just hate havin your heros tainted! I've always been a huge Belfort fan and I always had respect for him for not completely crumbling after his sister was killed.
But the TRT thing certainly muddies the picture. Still enjoyed his knockout but he should be off the TRT unless it's a serious medical issue which I doubt, but I don't know.

yeah that's what I was thinking but now I'm thinking being within limits is not the issue - it's the fact that he ups his level to what it WOULD be if he was younger - and that's not right to augment your body's chemistry to negate his aging. If he's 36 he should just accept it and not find loopholes just to even his chances against younger guys.

i know that. i'm not arguing the rights and wrongs of it, just explaining the benefits of it to BLN.

" One day in the near future, Belfort may fight for a belt again. He is likely going to need to be cleared by a state commission at some point, and some are on the record saying they might have a problem offering him a therapeutic use exemption due to his past PED bust. We are heading for some kind of collision course. We're already there from a public relationship perspective.

Even if you don't want to look too far ahead, you can't help but look at the here and now. The Belfort of today is a killer, something similar to the young, powerful crusher we first saw so long ago. And that's sort of the point. With all of his contemporaries gone or on their way out, Belfort has managed to not only stay relevant, but also go through a rebirth and hover near the top. After nearly 17 years of fighting, that's either cause for celebration or cynicism. Maybe he's just older and wiser than he used to be, maybe the dark period of his career when he suffered through the tragic loss of his sister was more difficult to navigate than he could ever put into words. But maybe TRT plays a role, too. "

I get all the jabs now - he was busted before... they say using steroids in the past shuts down normal Test production later in life and so maybe it's a medical necessity for him or others now.. but only because they used steroids in the past so either way you look at it it seems dirty. Would've preferred not to know anything about it now : (

Quick search tells me at least 7 UFC fighters are on TRT and have admitted to it. Including some of my other favs so.... feck it anyway.

The issue is that both times he was given permission, the fights were in Brazil. Under a brazillian AC. Their original TUE was very dodgy. They said they just granted it on the basis that Nevada tests and approved him for TRT. Keith Kizer said they never did that.
So whether or not his need for TRT is genuine or not, is in doubt for me. Also I don't trust the Brazilia AC to monitor it all that strictly.

    Low by whose definition.
Back to normal levels by whose definition.
    That's the issue really.

Also Test levels naturally declining with age is normal, it shouldn't be a reason for a TUE. only if the decline is significantly greater than normal.

Vitor got very narky when asked about TRT at the post fight presser.
