    I'm terrible at Irish, aiming for high D or C :-). My teacer told us to learn Bron, Fearg, Dochas/Eadochas, Feintrua, and Gra.

    I don't have a clue what they mean but there you go. I might be wrong though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 300 ✭✭positivealf

    I believe Fearg, Gra agus Bron will be on. If you cover yourself for bron everything will be alright.

    I've done Mac Elie ag Imeacht, our Irish teacher ain't the best, so yea.

    Neither is mine, according to my friends. I don't really speak Irish very well. I usually use two phrases; Nil is agam or Ni thuigim. Always works. Except in the JC. Doesnt work too well then.

    Do you think I'll be ok if I just do mac eile? O.o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 300 ✭✭positivealf

    Lol I'm only doing one poem based of 'anger' and it's 'An tÓzon' whatever emotion that comes up on the test i will find a way to make it compatible. Irish teachers suck at teaching, thank goodness for internet.

    I'm doing an tOzon too, it has so much more than anger! It's emotions include:
    Grá
    Fearg
    Dóchas
    Brón
    Díomá and a few others!

    yeh that's why i chose it, i will just replace the 'fearg' part of my sample answer with whatever emotion because my quotes are easily malleable ^.^

    Our teacher says that he's not sure that mac eile ag imeacht will cover us..

    Grá
    Brón

    Díoma
    Grá do tuismitheoirí do phaiste
    Uaigneas

    He gave us a sample answer on Faoilean, which I find incredibly hard to learn off to be honest :( should I be ok with the one?

    The poetry section in paper two follows a pattern. Mac Eile will do good if you can talk about at least two topics .. :p

    Hey guys could you mark my aiste about cheolchoirm for me out of 50 http://oi39.tinypic.com/2ur8a6p.jpg :s

    I see a couple of mistakes in grammar/verbs:
    "Thosaigh an chéad grúpa ag seinnt" not ag seinm, seinm would be if you were talking about yourself "Seinm an giotár"
    "Thosaigh Robbie ag ceol" is wrong as ceol=music, a noun. Ag ceol=musicing which doesn't make sense. If you wanted to say he started playing "Thosaigh sé ag seinnt or if you wanted to say he started singing "Thosaigh sé ag canadh"
    "Cheol sé ar feadh dha uaír" is also incorrect, he played for two hours "Seinn sé ar feadh dha uaír" or he sang for two hours "Chan sé ar feadh dhá uair".
    "Iontach greannmhar" I have never heard that phrase before and it doesn't sound right. If you wanted to say he was very funny "bhí sé an-greannmhar" or really funny "I ndáiríre greannmhar".
    "Cheol sé" should be "Chan sé"
    "Bhí an slua ag ceoil" is incorrect "Bhí an slua ag canadh"
    Burgers are spelt "borgaire"

    Along with what other people said it is far too short and it would be a good idea for you to learn the Aimsir Caite endings for -we although -muid is perfectly correct, it looks better if you write the endings for them
    Bhíomar=we were
    Chuaomar= We went
    Bhuaileamar= We met
    Sorry for being rather blunt, I had a better version typed
    out but my computer decided to crash right before I posted it :rolleyes:

    And if anybody sees any mistakes in my corrections, feel free to point them out, I'm not a teacher/examiner just a student!

    If you're going to learn phrases, learn them fully, don't learn them half-off! It's better to go in write very simple phrases, that are understandable and spelt correctly, then a pile of rubbish which was roughly translated from English to Irish. If you are not confident in writing your own words, learn off phrases from your Irish book and any notes your teacher(s) gave you over the years. Don't worry you'll be grand and good luck!

    Ok i'd better read over another poem! I havent started studying irish but im planning on cramming:
    Aisling (like it)& an t-ozon(love it)
    Dioltas an mhadra rua (i hate it) and banrion an uaignis (really easy)

    Tbh im confident for irish after how well the oral went.
    Thats funny, maths and science are my 2 best subjects! Im nervous for french (aural especially) and geography (no matter how much study i do i still find it so hard to learn and boring) and home ec (both my cookery and textile project were disasters!)

    To be honest, it kind of depends on the person:) I always do the 'other' drama, but I always read the questions first, and, if they don't suit, I'll do the shakespearen. :) I remember one year the other drama was EXTREMELY difficult so yeah x)

    Thanks! I find the Shakespeare dramas sometimes hard to understand so the other drama will hopefully be okay !
