NCT for the e60just booked in next week in naas.

How do you guys deal with seeing the nct people driving (and pushing to the limit) your car? Is it stare intensely through gritted teeth, or the "I can't watch" approach?

Sure you push it to the limit every day so what difference will it make!:pac:

I only ever tested the polo so had no problem with them pushing it to the limit.

Hopefully when they test the alfa next July, they'll be smiling like fcuk when they rev her!:D

    Not every day :P

But she has her little quirks. Or even something like the push button start - I hope they don't try turn the feckin keyfob in the ignition. There is a slot for the keyfob but it doesnt turn.

I will for damn sure enjoy the italian tuneup on the way though!

I'd have it nice and smokey for them! Sure it's only 28 quid for the retest! :pac:

For some reason when I got my '00 Audi A4 tested in Naas two weeks ago the tester revved mine so long and fair high that a lot of people looked out the window at him. Meant to ask him why he had to do that, (it's a 1.8 petrol), as it was the first time anything like that happened to me. But I completely forgot to ask :(

It passed on the emissions but failed on an upper control arm the driver's side so put a new one in and it passed on my way to work this morning. Not bad for a car I only paid €700 for and it was 4 years since it was last tested as had been lying up after the owner died.

But I have to say all the fella's I've dealt with in Naas have been sound the 5 or 6 times I've gone there since we moved up here.

Yeah, I'd say they've never seen a 5 Series before, might get stuck there!

Ah I'm just over anxious about her. Can't help it!

Ah man she'll be grand sure you full throttle it the whole time, they are putting a bit of a Rev on in neutral, no pressure to her!

I remember being in there once and a lad was in with a dc5, Jesus you couldn't hear yourself think. You'd swear you were beside a dyno or something and your man just trying to do the emissions test :)

The chap I bought my 156 off was saying when he put his integrale in for the nct he had 5 testers gathered around the car for the test!

Anyone know what's going on on the quays?
Have been stuck at connyngham road for the last 20 mins! It's taken 10 to get from the end of the depot to the gate!

I generally pass no remarks, unless I see them acting the mickey or trying to feed me crap.

Acting the mickey: racing the bollox of the car out of the centre and jamming on the brakes. For what, fun? Rip my f*cking tyres, burn my brakes, warp my discs?

Feeding me crap: I flipped when they told me they couldn't hold revs on my fathers car. I told the tester "I installed a fully reconditioned tb, potentiometer, ht leads etc. Over a grands worth of parts and you can't hold revs, if there is a fault it's your foot. Now I have to book a retest, to do what ring more money out of me?" que the hangs head down in shame and hands keys over. Quelle surprise, I did noting with the car, tested it a few days later and it passed

You get bad eggs everywhere though, most of the time they're sound, if it fails it's something trivial and I accept it's something we've missed and sort it asap. But something stupid and the omen in me comes out....

Hweh hweh hweh I think it's to do with a crash on the M50 that caused a tailback on the N4 (so the wireless says)

I was there about 8:20 and it was grand :p

The m50 is miles away from the quays though?

Or just a load of people later than normal.

I'd say they got seriously delayed, hence it was quiet enough when I was there. Surprisingly quiet!

    2007 Mazda 6.

Is it hard to fit a leather steering wheel and center arm rest?

Old wheel has to be removed once you have disconnected the battery and removed the airbag. I'd get a mechanic to do it.

Center arm rest should already be there as it also doubles as the lid of a cubbyhole.

The base models just have a big hole and no armrest.

I've changed steering wheels before and never had an issue. Just wondering if it's a straight swap on a 6. Are they pre-wired for the MFSW do you know?

Hmmm I had the 6MPS so that had everything.

Yeah, they usually are pre-wired as it's cheaper to just pre-wire them all. They did the same for the electric/heated seats on the RX8s.

I'd agree this happened me last week after a crash in Drumcondra

Fair few accidents on the radio this evening.

I'd an nct tester not able to open the boot on my car once :D

I was thinking you were used to something a bit better than a 1.8 6 :D

Spotted a nice one this evening although I think it's salty at €6k for a 2007.

They really need an armrest and leather steering wheel I think.

6k isn't too bad depending on what it has and what condition it's in.

    Judge for yourself

Naturally I went out in an IS220d and then remembered they're basically ****

I just drove the definition of hell home :(

Take one opel astra bertone, add a busted wheel bearing, broken wipers, broken mirrors, dodgy steering, and un balanced wheels, make for bad times!

The things I do for a pretty face

Yeah that's not bad for that price! You'd get it for 6500 I'd say. 1 owner, low milage and interior and exterior look to be in excellent condition.

Only let down is that it doesn't have fogs and there's no steering wheel controls. Or is this the car you're asking these questions for???

I don't see why the fitment would be any different, so I'd say you'd change it inside 5 minutes. Also blowing up removed airbags can be fun. I've one in the garage that I've been waiting to blow up

The car looks well and it's from what I understand to be a very good dealership. I'm just trying to figure out how much it would cost to finish off a bit better. The lack of fogs wouldn't put me off tbh.

Are the engines belt or chain driven? I'm not overly familiar with them.

I'm always wanted to do it :D

I'm always terrified working around the wheel as I have a fear of it blowing up in my face :o

The center arm rest is really the bigger issue to sort as it would require a bit of fiddling I think.

The IS I looked at had a new 'improved' engine fitted but a friend in Toyota tells me they never solved the issues so just stay away from it.

All that model 6 are chain driven AFAIK.

Would it not make more sense buying the touring or exec spec in one? Plenty about.

For that money id nearly expect to be getting the newer model tbh.

The feckin f350 is not ready yet. I've been messed about for almost a month now - waiting for the truck to pass the DOE.

Suggestions? I think setting a deadline of the end of the week and then either the deal is completed or cancelled is the way to go.

    In summary ->
