Would your OH not consider a vascectomy? It's a lot simpler and less invasive, also more reversible.

I have a friend who had one that went badly but that was one of those freak accident things that can happen when you get your tonsils out etc. If I was doing it I'd be sure to say that I wanted at consultant or someone not far off to do it, no SHOs.

I had it done about 15 years ago. I chose to do it instead of my husband because I reckoned that after having 4 kids I was never going to have another no matter what but if anything happened to me my husband could have another relationship and more children if he wanted, i didn't want any more children so I decided to do it.

I have never looked back the peace of mind is great and the entire thing went smoothly.

I had the op done in the public system also, in the Rotunda, I only had to wait a couple of weeks and I think it cost me less then £50. There is probably a longer wait now but you should ring the hospital and see, you might get done quicker then you think.
